1. Hmmm....why is there no "repukes for Clark" website?
Edited on Wed Jan-07-04 12:31 PM by Jack_Dawson
Because Clark would fairly trounce Bush, perhaps?

2. Because Clark has already endorsed them
See his glowing comments about George Bush and Dick Cheney at a Republican dinner in 2001.

Since when would he need a repuke website endorsing him after that?

3. Like Delay, Safire and Carlson have endorsed Dean?
Think about it.

12. Oh no, in bizarro world ...
The neo-cons want Dean to get ahead so that the media will pounce on him causing Dean to loose in the polls so Clark will become the front runner so the media will jump on Clark so that Americans will become frustrated with the fractured Democrats and vote for Bush for a huge victory.

:silly:
Ominous Polls:
A look at the Gallup polls over the past few moths show why Democrats are becoming increasingly nervous about putting Clinton at the head of their ticket.
In a head-to-head match up on March 20, Bush led by only 52-43 percent and Clinton was indeed within striking range. But as the weekly disclosures took their toll during the ensuing primaries, Clinton's margin fell to 54-38 percent on March 29 and then fell further to 54-34 by the beginning of April.
Edit ...
"The negatives are forming on Bill Clinton like a political stalactite, drop by drop," said veteran Democratic consultant David Sawyer. "Each drip leaves a residue that builds on his negative image."

15. Prove it.
Show me the endorsements. How many absurdly false claims can be made in one day? I don't know, but Dean opponents set new records with the same frequency that Dean sets fundraising records.

4. Great question.
The GOP media is busy painting Dean as the anti-christ communist threat. Why would republicans like him at all?

At least with Clark, you can say they approve of the military angle.

6. Because of Dean's fiscal conservatism.
He balanced Vermont's budget 11 years in a row vs. Bush's borrow and spend $500 billion deficits.

7. Please don't use the term "Repukes" when
talking about Republicans who are honest and smart enough to know what's what with Bush.

If the idea is for the Dem candidate, ANY Dem candidate, to get crossover Republicans, we have to be very careful not to alienate them.

I don't mean to jump on you, it just reminded me that I think it's a good idea for all of us to keep this in mind. There ARE good Republicans and there ARE good conservatives and we want them to stand with us.

8. Republicans fear The General
The reason why so many Republicans for Dean websites are popping up is simple....they know they can beat Dean. They are afraid of Wes Clark.

13. More Proof that Dean is more Republican than Democrat
Dean's own words show that in the recent past, his personal political philosophy was far more aligned with the GOP than Democrats. Dean's own words are in bold below:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Most of the Democrats in the legislature rebelled against Dean over the budget cuts, and he ended up depending on Republican votes to pass most of his proposals. At the time, a local Vermont newspaper wrote, "The biggest items on Dean’s agenda for next year are likely to provoke more opposition from the Democrats than the Republicans. Nevertheless, Dean said he feels no particular pressure to deliver the goods to his party or to promote the Democratic agenda."15

In the mid-1990s, Dean even aligned himself with the likes of Republican Newt Gingrich on his stance on cutting Medicare. He opined at the time, "The way to balance the budget is for Congress to cut Social Security, move the retirement age to 70, cut defense, Medicare and veterans pensions, while the states cut everything else."16
....
The Rutland Herald described how one protestor, Henrietta Jordan of the Vermont Center for Independent Living, "said it would be much fairer to raise taxes on people with expensive homes and cars, children in private school and a housekeeper at home than to cut programs that helped the 66,000 Vermonters living with disabilities."17 Dean responded callously, brushing off the pleas of Vermont’s most vulnerable by saying, "This seems like sort of the last gasp of the left here."18"
