MN SENATE POLL: Franken 42, Coleman 38

Minnesota Poll: Franken, Coleman are neck and neck
Bruce Bisping, Star Tribune

By KEVIN DUCHSCHERE, Star Tribune

Last update: November 2, 2008 - 12:45 AM

The Minnesota U.S. Senate race remains a tossup on the final weekend of the campaign, with the outcome likely to be decided by who can snatch away the most voters from third-party contender Dean Barkley.

A new Star Tribune Minnesota Poll shows DFLer Al Franken clinging to a slim lead over Republican Sen. Norm Coleman among likely voters, 42 percent to 38 percent. That's within the poll's 4.1 percentage point margin of sampling error.

Independence Party candidate Barkley, who held steady at 18 percent in the two previous Minnesota Polls, slipped three points to 15 percent.

5. Its a 3 way race, that is why the #'s are lower. There is a 3rd party candidate
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 07:59 AM by Jennicut
that is running fairly strong. Dean Barkley, MN Independence Party is the 3rd party candidate.

Edited to add Dean Barkley's name.

21. I hope people in MN-6 do that
I lived in MN-1 before moving to the UK so my voting address will always be MN-1 the rest of my life. So I voted for Tim Walz (the incumbent). My family sent money to Elwyn Tinklenberg though! I hope he wins! Cross fingers for him.

13. i think Al's going to do it
i think the latest lawsuit against Coleman dooms his race.

Winning Georgia is going to be tougher, but i think we have a good chance to force a run-off and then, who knows.

20. A run-off in GA is almost certain.
I'm looking forward to visits from President-Elect Obama, Vice-President Elect Biden, Senator Clinton, President Clinton, and a host of other Democratic luminaries as the entire Party puts its muscle behind Jim Martin and avenges Max Cleland's loss to Chambliss in 2002. GA will be the focus of considerable attention for about a month, and it will be spectacular. With all that money and energy behind Martin, I think he'll win, and in doing so, give us our 60th or 61st vote in the Senate.

Happy days! :toast:

15% are for a third party candidate so there are 5% undecided.
