McCain and Obama Will Appear On Monday Night Football - I Fear Obama's Geekiness Will Be Exposed!
Edited on Sun Nov-02-08 07:31 PM by Median Democrat
Like me and millions of other men in their 30s to 50s, Obama is a fantasy football geek! The hipness may irretrievably be lost once Obama starts spouting off rushing statistics as noted in this article in CNNSI:

I have the absolute worst fantasy league football partner. Just try to get the guy to return a call. Or a text. You need a damn court order.

He's Barack Obama. And, yeah, I guess he's busy, but why was I the one who had to fly to Dayton, get frisked and have bomb dogs drool on my bags just so I could meet him getting off his tricked-out, chartered 757? He can't meet a guy halfway?

I asked each candidate to be my running mate for one week in a fantasy league, just to see what kind of president he'd make—how he'd handle decisions under pressure and balance a budget. (On ESPN.com's Gridiron Challenge, you get a mystical $50M to spend on a team.) Only Obama bit. We settled on the Week 6 games.

"Monday Night Football" on Election Day eve will feature the Pittsburgh Steelers playing the Washington Redskins -- and Senators John McCain against Barack Obama as the half-time entertainment.

The presidential candidates will tape their interviews earlier in the day, at still-to-be-determined locations, with Chris Berman questioning them from an ESPN studio in Bristol, Conn.

1. think they'll ask him about this?

http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/07/in-pennsylvania.html

Asked what first comes to his mind when he thinks of Pittsburgh, McCain chuckled, "the Steelers. I was a mediocre high school athlete but I loved and adored the sports but the Steelers really made a huge impression on me particularly in my early years."

And then McCain told a rather moving story about his time as a P.O.W. "When I was first interrogated and really had to give some information because of the pressures, physical pressures on me, I named the starting lineup, defensive line of the Pittsburgh Steelers as my squadron mates."

"Did you really?" asked the reporter.

"Yes," McCain said.

"In your POW camp?" asked the reporter.

"Yes," McCain said.

"Could you do it today?" asked the reporter.

"No, unfortunately," McCain said.

Here's one reason he likely couldn't do it today -- the Steelers aren't the team whose defensive line McCain named for his Vietnamese tormentors. The Green Bay Packers are. At least according to every previous time McCain has told this story. And the McCain campaign just told ABC News that the senator made a mistake -- it was, indeed, the Packers.

read on in the article...he writes about it in one of his fantasy autobios

15. WTF; did McCain just give birth it? Of course, when he was a POW, he didn't have a football.
I guess we should give the guy a break.

16. I grew up on the Dolphins, in the great years
We had season tickets during those Championship years. Obama reminds me of Paul Warfield, long, lean, fast, smart to be able to read his quarterback, and able to stretch those arms out for the impossible catch.

McCain, meh, I'm just totally disconnected with him on every level, be it sports or anything else.
