I get the feeling the entire Republican party can barely hide how much they now despise McCain.

Romney was asked if he thought McCain ran an honorable campaign. Mittens hemmed and hawed, but couldn't bring himself to do it.

Charlie Crist has turned his back on him, and even Sarah Palin is comfortable in openly defying her running mate. Both are seeing their stars rise in the party, so they're now avoiding John as much as possible.

Maybe Bush is avoiding the campaign trail for the same reason, instead of the other way around?

1. What's Ironic About It Is That
McCain ditched most of his positions from eight years ago in order to run for president as a pro-Bush right-winger. His VP selection was apparently at the behest of the Republican base. And he changed his campaign tactics to the Karl Rove playbook on steriods.

I guess you just can't please some people.
