I Guess The Obama Campaign Isn't Very Organized In Pennsylvania
An Obama volunteer just left a GOTV door hanger here while I was upstairs making calls for him. WTF!

B-)

3. when I canvassed this weekend we were told to go to every house
And see who they were voting for, and hand out voting info. Instead of targeted canvassing, I think this is called "cold canvassing" or something (I can't think of the right term).

Better to be safe than sorry!!

4. If you didn't answer/hear the door
how would they know what you were doing?

In my area, we're doing blanket canvassing in Dem strongholds and we're not working off lists anymore. Also, I'll knock or ring the bell only once unless someone is visible inside. I don't want to be so persistent as to piss them off by disturbing them. Maybe they are sleeping between shifts, have a child down for a nap, etc. I would rather leave the literature than annoy a potential voter.

BTW, keep up the good work. We need PA.

6. Somebody canvassed my house one day..
while I was out canvassing the next neighborhood over...:) This is in Northern Virginia, and I know my house has been canvassed on at least two other occasions. It hasn't been canvassed once by the repubs, and my s.o. is not registered with any party.

:kick:

7. Ha ha - something close to that happened last night here in Iowa
someone called to confirm that a volunteer would be coming in for the shift she signed up to do today....her husband answered the call and then said "Uh, she's at your headquarters right now". The person called out her name and when she responded asked if she'd be in today...she said 'yes' and the caller got back on the line with the husband and thanked him for his help! :7

We're all starting to feel like the 'time to make the donuts' guy these days!

11. I have door-hanger duty tomorrow a.m.
I'll be equipped with a map and a list of registered Dems who haven't voted yet. Or, more specifically, all Dems who don't vote by mail, since we don't have early voting in CA. This means my husband, who is coming with me, probably has a door hanger waiting for him.

Gotta keep all the bases - even the base - covered. :)

12. The OP was being facetious. The Obama campaign wouldn't know where the volunteers live.

Hell.. I'm volunteering tomorrow, and signed up for it without any address.

The OP was joking.. right?

17. That's the mark of organization; leaving nothing to chance
The more overlap, the better the likelihood that every potential supporter has been dug up. Every time I've committed to volunteer, the local coordinator (in the event that he's reading this, hi, Reed!) called me personally to confirm my scheduled appointment, and I was pressed to sign up to volunteer at the rally I went to.

18. I just got back from hanging GOTV literature on doors, and found one on MY door.
I've lived here for 20 years, and have voted in every single election, but Obama's campaign is the first presidential campaign that has come to my door to GOTV. Obama is doing door hangers in neighborhoods we never had the manpower to cover in 2004 for the Kerry campaign.

Obama is everywhere in PA including my sad red county. :hi:
