My absentee ballot never showed up?
I am away at college so my only option is to vote absentee. I sent in the application on-time but I never got my ballot. The ballot has to be postmarked by midnight so after an entire year of working for Obama I can't vote. :-(

1. Call the election office.
Maybe they can fax it to you? There has to be other options. Best of luck!

4. How far a drive is it to home.
I can sympathize. People bitch about the youth vote not coming out enough, but a lot of the time we are depending on the orderly functioning of a system that is really fucked up to allow us to get a chance to vote. Registration's easy if you're always in the same place, but when you move each year and you're far from home it can be a real bitch.

6. Call 1-877-874-6226.
The Obama website also has a form you can fill out.

7. They may be able to email one to you as well.
This is how my husband ended up voting. He just had to print it out and then fill it in. He loses the "privacy envelope" but that's ok.

8. I had to call three times to get mine.
even though I've been registered as an absentee voter for 6 years. If I had not called, I would NOT have gotten it. It only arrived last Monday..... Why did you wait so long?

This is the danger of absentee ballots....they have to mail them to you.....

11. You have to make sure you put every single detail correctly or they won't send it
I'm away at college too...I went to my local registrars office and they looked it over and sent it for me. Sorry you missed out.

12. I'm 400 miles away from home so driving is not a practical option.
The one saving grace is that I live in NY, so the chances of it being "the deciding vote" are pretty slim.

13. Just print the sample ballot off from the internet.
Mark it, and mail it before midnight. It might be considered provisional, but it will count.

15. Aw, man. I can sympathize. I was in a similar position, until I FINALLY got my ballot on Sat.
They make it so damn hard for us to vote, and then complain about a lack of youth turnout. I'm really sorry, it must be a terrible feeling.

17. Absentees in CA have to make it back before the close of polls - its to late to send them in now
Im not sure about other states - or where you are - but if someone in CA has an absentee drop it off at any polling place towarrow - do not send it in because its too late and it will not get counted.
