I was watching CNN just now and I heard a beautiful song
by Paul Simon (of Simon & Garfunkel fame). Progressive Future
is running this ad, featuring Paul Simon's "American Tune," on
CNN and MSNBC:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbuLchsauKs

"Still, when I think of the
road we're traveling on
I wonder what's gone wrong
I can't help it, I wonder what's gone wrong"

Then, a CLOSING SHOT of McCain & Bush.

GLORIOUS.

9. Agreed.
This song - especially the original studio recording - never looses it's impact for me. The chord changes alone are just stunning. I am proud of Mr. Simon for lending this song in this fashion and at this particular moment.

18. Why shouldn't he "lend" it...?
After all, he "borrowed" it from Hans Leo Hassler. (The so-called "American Tune" is actually a 16th-century German hymn with a new -- and, to be honest, not-particularly-interesting -- bridge added. Nice lyrics, though. And I actually like the version from the S&G reunion concert in Central Park better -- adding a harmony vocal really makes that song special.)

One of the three or four greats along with Dylan.

Happy to give this a 5th.

14. I'll second that. Paul Simon's got the truth vibe and the painter's
fine brush, too.

Mighty fine body of work he has given us.

11. The first time I saw it was right after the Wright commercial -
The difference between the two PERFECTLY captures the difference between the two campaigns and the two men.....

I love that song and wept.....

I think the commercial was released as THE response to the wright commercial....

and if that's so, it's perfect.

12. Yes, I was amused to see it sandwiched between 2 ugly Wright ads-
it sure offered a great compare and contrast between the dignity and class of Obama and the disgusting, dirty politics of the republicans. I suspect they will go on to really regret that Wright ad blitz...heh heh.

The Progressive Future one cuts right to the bone of it all- middle America, what have THEY done to us in the last 8 years?

13. Skip the tissues and grab a couple of towels.
It's one of Paul Simon's finest compositions, and that's saying something.

He sang it for Bill Clinton's Inaugural Celebration concert. I think it's on THERE GOES RHYMIN' SIMON.
