I think John Q will be able to connect two revelations, and the outlook is not so good for GWBush. The Texas AWOL bit is getting major play in all media--yes! even here in Mississippi.
Punch One: GW refused to comply with an order from his CO to show up for a physical and was suspended from flying.
Punch Two: Kitty Kelley reveals that GW had a coke problem that extended well past the 25 years ago when GW claimed he cleaned up his act.
The connect: Perhaps GW didn't show up for his physical because of drugs in his system--the physical would have revealed his drug use.
The consequence: We'll have to wait and see what voters think about these new revelations. I live in the rhinestone in the buckle of the Bible belt, and let me say that forgiving alcoholism is one thing--forgiving cocaine use is quite the other. Going AWOL is unthinkable in the minds of the conservatives in the midst of whom I live.
