16. Yup. I have to come back to get my permanent visa.

Can't do it from here, it's a weird process. I'll be back there for a couple of months, probably.

18. Well, geez, it looks like some things haven't changed since I lived there!

I had to jump thu hoops to get my residency as well!

Finally, I was able to apply for Canadian citizenship (my mom was born in Saskatchewan) and since I'm a 3rd generation Brit, that opened all the doors.

But back then, tea was 6p a box! Thatcher ruined that country re how expensive it became. (Man, am I dating myself!)

Anyway, if I were you, I wouldn't be able to go to bed either. Ready your box of tissues for when Barack gives his acceptance speech probably at 6 am your time!

20. My process shouldn't be too hard. I'm married to a native Brit.

But 9/11 affected the UK too, in that Blair made things a lot more conservative re: immigration. So it used to be I could have come right in, no problem. But post-9/11, I have to do the biometrics thing from the U.S.

I don't anticipate anything being complicated after that, but you never know with fucking immigration, do you? :eyes:

Food is surprisingly cheap here, but almost everything else is unbelievably expensive, especially in London. The amount we're paying in rent right now, for what we get, almost sounds like a joke. Ouch!
