How do we battle the Right Wing Wackos now?

I am sickened that Bachmann won.

I've been thinking a lot about how could we, as Dems, organize early to stop people like her from getting in office.

My way is to vote against the GOP in local races. If they aren't elected in local seats (like the School Board, Sheriff, City-Council, Mayor), then they won't have a chance to go higher.

The second way is to find out how to find qualified and good candidates to battle these wackos.

Any other suggestions?

don't let them get by; use Obama civility to point out faults in their arguments/positions.

And watch to see what repugs do, or try to do, in response to today. I think/hope there's a good chance RWW (right wing wackos) will disappear from view, and 'good old repubs' will return.

I just feel that the Democratic party has to do a better job at the local level. Before I voted yesterday, I googled a lot of the candidates that were running in my district. I think that if the Democratic party at the local level could put together not only a fact sheet in their mailers with the endorsements of the opponents, that could help.

We need dossiers on these people.

It's a very conservative district. The same people who believe Obama was a Muslim and has close associations with terrorists. How can you reason with these people?

We need to keep the Obama campaign alive, his internet "rolodex", his email list. Until we have 75 Senators and 350 members of the House, until every school board is devoid of anti-intellectuals, until every sheriff, judge, city council member, mayor, and justice of the peace is AFRAID to be labeled a REPUBLICAN!

I'm still a little tired from the excitement, but this issue has been bothering me since the news that Bachmann won.

I wrote in another thread that Palin got her start at the local level in Wassila. There are other folks out there who have mini-Napoleon complexes who are being nurtured by the GOP at the local level. These are the same folks who work their way up the ranks until they are in a position of power like a Senator, or Governor, or even President of the United States. If we cut them off at the feet, they cannot run.

We've got to cripple the Christian Right/GOP's ground game before it starts.

American can't afford the RWW's anymore. They aren't effective leaders. They are only puppets.
