I can't stop crying!! (VA - IL connection)

I live in Chicago but grew up in SW VA. I know my mom has been working her ass off in VA, canvassing six days a week, by herself when she had to (even though I told her it wasn't safe)...


Well, when I was in Grant Park tonight and it was called for VA, I called her (she doesn't have cable) and she said 'WHAT? WHAT? VIRGINIA, WHAT?'

Crowd was going nuts, we couldn't hear each other.

Little did I know, that was the state that put us over the top. I saw it on the big screen BARACK OBAMA ELECTED PRESIDENT and we were shrieking at each other.... Too much noise. Couldn't make sense of it.


Later, I ran out my cell phone battery holding my phone up so she could hear the speech live.

My parents are both huge Democrats, in Carroll County, but my mom has it a little easier because she's a natural extrovert. My dad can't canvass, he has huge social anxieties. He just sends money when he can.

They're both thrilled.
