It was like the best sex you ever ever had, and it ain't coming back
I meant the feeling election night. It was better than Bill Clinton. It was better than Jimmy Carter. It was better than the best acid, coke, pot, pills, booze I ever had. And it will never be forgotten, or repeated in our lifetimes.

1-20-09 can't come soon enough.

Maybe it's catching. :D

3. I actually was only briefly exuberant on election night.
I was then overwhelmed with a mixture of relief and pride, which left me in tears...for three days.

:eyes:

I hope that I'm not a similar mess on Inauguration Day, but I suspect that I will be.

6. No offense , but you all need to get some REAL LIFE experiences.

I'm a political junkie and even have run campaigns before.

While this election was thrilling--ish,

None of it compares to the feeling i had climbing my first mountain at a rave, performing in front of 5 thousand people, the first time i drove 100mph, starting my first home business, riding a horse full gallop through a fresh snow field, surfing on a mountain sized sand dune, skiing my first double diamond, or a few dozen other experiences I could name.

28. amen to that.
I don't get this whole orgiastic glee over politicians. I don't enjoy looking at pictures of them with puppies, picking out groceries, or bodysurfing. It's worse than celebrity worship. Don't get it.

Never had, hope I never will.

13. Yep, I still hope that she runs again.
She and Obama respectively won more votes than anyone else in a primary in the history of the country. So, I hope she gives it another shot in the future.

At most, it was the extreme relief a constipation sufferer experiences when the bowels finally move.

I forgot it by the next day, looking ahead to the long expected battle with a centrist Obama administration.

38. Half right.
I made up my mind before he ever entered the primaries, and I haven't changed it.

That's the half that's right.

The half where you are wrong, is this:

I've been open all along to having him change my mind. He can do so by shifting his policies leftward, and by making some LEFT-leaning change appointments.

THAT is what can change my mind.

lot longer than the best sex I ever had. (Thank goodness. Having sex for three weeks would probably have done some internal damage.)

24. I wasn't really thrilled.
I mean, I was behind Obama before most on this board, I had the sticker on my car before he even announced, I donated, went to a rally in Springfield and voted for him, and now have the Obama 2012 sticker on my car.

But to be honest, The Presidential election was over in July. Election night was a given.

26. I still remember. After VA and OH had been called.. it was just a matter of the West Coast results.
That was a great moment, when the West came down, all at once, like the Hammer of Democratic Justice, to put it away.

"just a small thermal exhaust port..." It was like a Star Wars movie, but infinitely better, because it was real.

Election night was nice.

Didn't beat getting laid.

Or the Steelers winning the Super Bowl.

It felt like landing in Vegas after the worst flight of my life. Profound relief and a hope that good times were ahead.

40. weird..I was so tired election night I could barely keep my eyes open
After working (volunteering) and obsessing and worrying for so long, by the time the actual victory came around, I was too tired to celebrate. Was almost too terrified to watch the results. I remember the call for Ohio while I held my breath. Never even opened the champagne. In fact, it's still in the fridge. Seemed like a dream.

Instead of the raucous celebration I pictured, I've been having a slow dawning of great joy. Every morning I wake up and spend a few minutes watching the birds outside and just sort of...giving thanks. No anxiety, no more of that powerless feeling re the war, -- just peace and joy. Each day he does something to remind me why I worked so hard for him/us/myself.

I'm hoping to make the inauguration is a huge blow out party:-)
