People in power don't "think like we do," unless we identify with and admire the ruling class. There is much authoritarianism and hero worship and cult of celebrity, and that causes people to believe that some powerful stranger "thinks like they do." What they mean is "if I were rich and famous, I would be like that person."

Lincoln came the closest to being a common person in a position of power in this country.

I can relate to so many of the things he describes being 4 months younger than he is. It's very comforting to me that he wasn't so isolated from "normal" society that he can joke about crap I can actually relate to.

It would be overwhelming and a bit over my pay grade.

But to compare a man who has yet to be sworn in to those who have already served is quite an imbalance. In other words, it is unfair to Obama who has not even served a day as of now. :eyes:
