What Do You Expect?

I see many people here cry out and complain about Obama's choices and claiming that his choices for his Administration don't represent change. There is one very consistent characteristic for his choices that I can see: each and every one of them is a strong, competent and knowledgeable individual. I don't see any "Yes-men" either, no cronies, for sure. And that, to me, is a big signal of change. We've been saddled with a lame administration that was incompetent because favoritism and political orientation were favored over competence and strength.

I don't know really what people expected here, but I'm sure that the whiners and complainers were hoping, not for change, but for Democratic reign. The last thing this country needs is Administration focused on politics over policy. That's what we've had. Obama has chosen competent policy over politics. And I find that refreshing. Let's lead as Democrats not by only hiring those we "feel" should get the positions or "deserve" them, but rather those who are best capable of serving, included in that is a passion for serving. I believe the people Obama has chosen meet that requirement and are not just going to give him "Yes-sirs". They'll give him the truth, straight up, enabling Obama to make the best decisions and bring about change, not for the sake of change, but because it will be the best direction to take.

Like it or not, some people gave the Bush Administration the benefit of the doubt before the war. Even though 80% of the people here claim they knew otherwise, I think it was the otherway around. Most people did give Bush the benefit of the doubt. More people were like Clinton than Obama. That doesn't make them bad people.

I don't see what's so hard to find people that don't have their heads shoved so far up their asses that they didn't support the war in Iraq at any point.

Some of his choices to deal with the economy are the same people who pushed for, and got Bill to sign into law, the deregulation of the financial sector that helped lead to the current crisis.

Yes they are "strong, competent and knowledgeable", but they are known from their past to be too closely aligned to the same financial sector that Obama will need to re-regulate as part of his rebuilding of our economy.

Will they do as they are told, or will they have their own agenda to try to water down (if not thwart outright) any legislative proposals to reign in the financial industry?

I know Obama always said he wants to listen to all sides, but so far theres only the old Clinton economic team being represented on his economic team, and thats hardly listening to all sides.

I want the policies Obama promised carried out and I am sure he's picked the right people to get that done. I want people with smarts and opinions not just a bunch of "yes" men. With the economy and wars going on in this world we don't have much time for the on the job training with some of the more important positions. I'm confident and hopeful that the administration he's putting together will get to work on cleaning up the mess of the past eight years and get this country moving again.

7. Before it used to be...what is Change? back during the primaries.

Now the same people who didn't know what Obama meant by "change" are current resident expert on what "Change" really is supposed to be.

Strange how they went from not knowing no matter what you explained to knowing exactly, even better than the President Elect who ran on the theme. :shrug:

10. you have to know how it works before you can change it.

you can't appoint people who don't know their way to the bathroom, and expect to do anything but just burn it down. if you want to fix it, you have to know how it works. or hire the guy that does.

i am fine with his picks. he is doing what i expected him to do. :shrug:
