What's left? Agriculture, Educatin and Interior?
What about heads of agencies: CIA, FBI, FDA - especially the FDA, with its regulations that could categorize birth control pills as abortion agents?

9. Will he want a position?
I think that Dean works great as being his own boss and running his own course. Look he ran with the "50 States" strategy when so many doubted him.

I think that being one of a team may be too tight for him.

Perhaps an ambassador?

8. And let's not forget about the FCC...
~~~
Here's what Wikipedia has added to the Federal Communications Commission page:
On 14 November 2008, President-elect Barack Obama selected Susan Crawford and Kevin Werbach to lead the review of the FCC. The review team will review the commission to aid the new administration in its planning decisions.<2> The team "will ensure that senior appointees have the information necessary to complete the confirmation process, lead their departments, and begin implementing signature policy initiatives immediately after they are sworn in."<3>
12. Transportation and FAA.
The top contender for the FAA job is said to be Duane Woerth, who used to be the head of ALPA (Air Line Pilots Association). It would be great to have a former union guy running the FAA -- maybe the air traffic controllers could finally get a decent contract.
