Immeasurable
An Open Letter to the Clueless Idiot Who Still Occupies the White House:

Re your recent comment: “Everybody wants to be liked. But being liked because you've actually done something constructive that's measurable is the best way to try to be liked.”

Guess what, George? Your chances of being “liked” lie somewhere between no chance, no way, ain’t never gonna happen and the proverbial snowball’s chance in hell.

The problem with your legacy is that what you leave in your wake is not measurable by any yardstick known to man.

Let’s look at the facts, shall we?

As we all now know, in the lead-up to the attacks of September 11th, you and your administration chose to ignore experienced advisors who warned repeatedly of impending disaster. The loss of life, the horror of the destruction that might have been avoided, the psychological damage done to the American people and the world-at-large due to your ineptitude – immeasurable.

The distrust created among average Americans towards their government caused by non-stop propaganda against the “Axis of Evil”, evil-doers in general (who turned out to be anyone who disagreed with you or your neocon puppet-masters' agenda), the wire-tapping of American citizens without cause, the outing of an undercover CIA operative as a means of political revenge, the manipulation of the Justice Department in order to serve a purely political agenda – immeasurable.

The division between American citizens caused by your encouragement to be divided – based on religious beliefs, political positions, sexual orientation and a suddenly out-of-vogue adherence to the Constitution and the Bill of Rights – immeasurable.

The amount of maiming, crippling, physical and psychological damage done to our troops as a result of over-extended combat tours, along with being sent into battle with insufficient equipment so your war-profiteering buddies could get the biggest bang for their buck – immeasurable.

The loss of our nation’s stature as a beacon of freedom and democracy as you imprisoned without charge, as you tortured, as you ignored long-held and well-established moral and principled behavior – immeasurable.

The amount of money plundered from our treasury as you doled out no-bid, no-questions-asked contracts to your friends and family; the amount of taxpayers’ dollars handed over to Big Business, Big Pharma, Big Oil in sweetheart deals; the amount of money squandered on your ill-advised, ill-fated war-of-choice while our own nation drowned in unfathomable debt – immeasurable.

The number of dead, wounded, orphaned and displaced innocent Iraqis who have been liberated by your cohorts’ greed for oil, for power over the powerless, for a desire to dominate the world and bend it to its own will for the sake of profit, regardless of the consequences – immeasurable.

The times you have acted the buffoon on the world stage, embarrassing your countrymen and rendering the once-revered office of the Presidency of the United States a target of scorn and ridicule – immeasurable.

The number of unemployed, the homeless, the hungry, the sick left without health coverage, the poorly educated, the victims of natural disaster left unassisted – or dead – immeasurable.

The number of American-haters and potential future terrorists you have created because they have seen their sisters raped, their brothers tortured, their religious beliefs ridiculed and demonized, their countrymen oppressed – immeasurable.

As you now set about trying to rehabilitate your well-deserved image as an inept, unconscionable liar, as you launch your last-minute attempt to change the world’s view of the all-too-obvious failure of your illegitimate presidency as something less than total disaster, as you wallow in the futility of creating the memory of a constructive tenure in office that the whole world knows never existed, remember one thing:

The damage you have done to our nation, to the concept of democracy, to the people of the country you were placed in a position to lead, to the environment in which we live, and to the world in which the rest of us strive to co-exist in peace and understanding is now, and always will be, immeasurable.

This is your rightful place in history, the manner in which you will be discussed, analyzed, and ultimately found wanting for decades – nay, centuries – to come.

For as long as mankind survives and has the ability to look back on mistakes made, consequences suffered, and the result of unbelievable regret, you will be remembered.

This is your inescapable legacy. And the shame of it will always be immeasurable.

4. How does one measure a fart in an elevator?
It affects all parties present, and the perp walks out into the hall with all affected.

If the perp walks far and fast enough, it all pretty much dissipates.

But the affected parties will long remember.

12. BRAVO!
A few days ago when George Bush received the International Medal of Peace, I nearly lost my mind. I noticed blood crusted under his fingernails when he grabbed the box and wondered why one of his personal aides didn`t hose him down before he went on stage. He looked like a half-crazed killer standing there with that blood...and smirk.

International Medal of Peace for a guy who, when all is told, will have been responsible for the deaths or maiming of over a million people. Junior Bush may like to claim that histoians (once they get the facts straight) will look favorably on his presidency, but I`d dare guess that there are more people on earth who want him in prison than want him exalted.

Edited on Wed Dec-03-08 08:26 AM by rasputin1952
there are times when I really believe we should clean up the gene pool, bush is at the top of the list for that argument. However, since we do not involuntarily sterilize people, (well, at least not anymore thankfully), perhaps voters, (and the UUSC), will finally understand that a lifetime of complete and utter failure in virtually everything an individual does, is not the requisite for becoming PotUS.

bush's history was there for all too see, ineptitude that lead to failure in everything he had ever done, he destroyed everything he came in contact with, and yet there were/are people who actually thought he might be "good" as PotUS. Well, all I can say is I hope the nation finally learned that an idiot in the WH is not conducive to moving the nation toward a bright future.

14. As the Reign of Terror
winds down(yes that fucker terrorized us), Bush has to know he can never come in contact with decent people ever again. The damage done by the Sociopath-In-Chief has a place in History that will be an embarrassment to his family for years to come. Thankfully, he's made it damn near impossible for anyone with his bloodline to hold significant office for at least two generations.
Bush's legacy trifecta: Looted treasury, bankrupted economy, weakened military.
Some people just need a good beating. Pain brings awareness.

15. Well written...........
and so insightful - there have been SO many areas where "*" has made such a mess that it's almost impossible to cover them all!
And giving "*" the "International Medal of Peace" makes as much sense as naming an airport after Reagan, honoring all Reagan had done to destroy the Air Traffic Controllers Union - both represent a slap on the face of every thinking and caring citizen of the United States.
January 20 can't get here soon enough!

30. The Truth
I have been telling people that worry that Obama's "Change"message will lose steam as the recession worsens and drags on that he needs to do two things. The first is to lay out a plan that is clear and has measurable milestones that against which progress can be demonstrated. Keep the milestones practical and achievable and then show the public that they are being achieved and are leading us into recovery.
The second is a Truth and Reconciliation process that examines the Bush Administrations criminal and otherwise negligent behavior and brings to light the truth of the last eight years. It wouldn't be necessary to prosecute the perpetrators and offenders, including W, but the examination would give the American people a background against which to understand our current condition. Plus it might just cause W to get his butt imprisoned where it belongs!

31. Wait a damned minute!!!!
When all this crap first happened, didn't he claim he wasn't making decisions based on whether or not he'd be liked?

Didn't he claim he made decisions ("I'm the decider") because he felt it was the right thing (or because some invisible all powerful being told him to do it)?

Now he's talking (wistfully, it seems) about being liked...

Good one.

Once he's taken his stench from the People's House and decided he wants to do some public speaking or write a book or something adult like that, we'll see how little he's "liked". And so will he.

I can already hear and see the whitewashing start on places like FAUX News. This deitization will escalate as we approach Bushes final day in office. Hannity will have a tear running down his cheek as he pays homage to his hero. The right wing extremist in the military will be on all the talk shows "setting the record straight" about the necessity of the Iraq war and the bravery of their dear leader to push for it.
Phil Gramm will be informing everyone about how it was the Democrats with FM and FM that caused the financial crisis and that poor W couldn't do anything about it. And on and on... drowning out any celebration of the first African American President stepping into the White House and to keep the story on the unfair treatment by the looney left of their very own Dubya the Decider. Their only decision, as Stephen Colbert would put it, would be to say if he was a Great President, or The Greatest President.

So that's why posts like yours Nance are so important. Keep the light shining on those filth and blood stains on that smirking frat boy's shirt. Thanks for a very concise summary of this clowns legacy.

His only input is from fellow ruling classers(?). It's their popularity he wants, and they give it to him. As he once said, they (the rich) are his base. Even the corporate media is generous to him. And he sure wouldn't read a book that explained how bad a president he was. He hasn't a clue about what we feel about him.
