Is there some (exit) polling data to support this outrageous claim (or the "news story" I read the other day suggesting that Chambliss winning this race signifies some kind of "loss" for Obama at the hands of Sarah Palin) or is this simply another one of those "it's true because we say it's true" pundit thing that happens all the time with near impunity? Chambliss, as far as I know, was already expected to win this race and Obama didn't carry Georgia, so why should Sarah Palin, of all people, be somehow credited with playing a significant role in his victory? There are simply just some statements that are SO "beyond the pale" stupid but this one by Gergen (somebody I usually tend to agree with or at least understand) is particularly breathtaking.
