Barack isn't going to waste his chance to be a great president

Unless I've totally misjudged the man, Barack Obama wants to be a great leader.

Look at his history. He's fought for people his whole life.

So he's hiring some re-treads?

That's okay.

They'll work for him. If they displease him, maybe he'll fire them.

He's going for people that know how the machinery of Washington works.

He wants to hit the ground running.

Perhaps, he will gradually replace his cabinet. Or maybe not.

1. Given the times I don't think he has any choice.

Two wars, worst economic collapse since the Great Depression. He doesn't have much choice but to hit the ground running hard and fast. He has four years to deliver hope and he knows it. He also has great opportunity to really change things for the better.

No time for partisan squabbling. If he can't get his program through he's out on his ass in four years. Fortunately, simple competence could make a huge difference--hell look at the changes which happened when Gates replace that giant ego of a Defense Secretary, Rumsfeld.

I'm hoping he pulls it off.

All his people are competent and ready to work. He's the boss, they will tow the line. I have hope.

4. he already is president as far as most people are concerned. i have never

seen such an open and aggressive transition process. they are gonna be so ready one day one it is not even gonna be funny.

and you are right, he wants the guys that know how the machinery works. if they don't go with the program, i am sure they will get the axe. i suspect many will be replaced after a year or so.
