One Month Ago....

Senator Obama and Senator Joe Biden walked onto the stage at Grant Park in Chicago as President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden.

Senator John McCain gave a passionate and history making concession speech, and Governor Sarah Palin tried to absorb the attention and made it clear in her post-election actions that this was all about positioning for 2012.

Americans went to the polls in lines that stretched sometimes for miles. Americans old and young, rich and poor, black and white.

President-elect Obama said "Change has come to America." That was one month ago.

One month later....

Governor Palin is already peaking too soon for 2012, and doing everything possible to make sure the press doesn't forget her.

Senator McCain is setting up for Senate re-election.

President-elect Obama and Vice President-elect Biden are putting together their cabinet and Administration, including involving former rivals such as Bill Richardson and Hillary Clinton.

My god, what a month can do. Change? We've got change before he even has taken the oath of office.

America is back, all in one month :)

Which is not much consolation to people losing their homes or jobs. I'm not sure they care how great Obama's speeches are.

The OP talked about a significant perceived change in direction since Obama's election. I have seen little substantive policy change articulated by cabinet appointments or specific policies that Obama himself has said he is prepared to enact once he becomes president.

They are there to carry out his agenda and not their own. I'm glad he doesn't have "yes" men on board. He said he wanted people that didn't always agree with him and thats fine. He also said the buck stops with him. Until I see otherwise I will not be overly outraged about cabinet picks. When and if he goes back on his promises I will be the first to speak out on his failure to carry out what he's promised...until then I will not stop the support I have for the new administration.

What a feeling that was when the clock struck 8:00pm PT. I remember crying a little earlier that evening when Obama clinched Ohio. I knew that the train had left the station.

When I see Mooseburger yammering away on TV, it reminds me that we didn't just dodge a bullet. We dodged a fucking nuclear warhead.

10. When Obama and his family walked on to the stage

in Grant Park with the dramatic movie playing (I think it was Spirit of the Titans) I expected the movie credits to start rolling. I said to my husband, "This is like the ending of a wonderful movie where the good guys won".
