According to Roger Simon
Edited on Thu Dec-04-08 06:03 PM by ErinBerin84
it is much more easy to "get smart" in the next couple of years than it is to get a personality, and Sarah Palin has the personality. And Chris Matthews says that he looks at Sarah Palin and thinks "She could be president", because she gives the Republicans hope like Ronnie Ray gun and Goldwater...and that she can just "train up" like Karl Rove did with W with a few issues . It's obviously a game to these people, I'm sure the media will be pumping her up in four years over a non-existence comeback story. It's like they want to forget that the whole humiliation of the campaign did not happen....I know that Republicans "love her" apparently, but it's not as if she comes out of this campaign completely unscathed. What the hell ever.

2. George W. Bush was supposed to "get smart" the last 8 years.
How'd that work out?

4. Yeah, and Chris Matthews was one of his biggest cheerleaders.

He practically sprung a woody every time he saw Bush clearing brush in Crawford, so I wouldn't buy anything he was selling. Tweety's not a bad guy, but I get the impression that he's easily influenced by minutiae.

3. My fear is not that the media will be pumping her up *in* four years. It's that
they're going to continue pumping her up from now until 2012. :scared: :puke:

They're not going to let us forget ol' Sarah.

6. The thing he's missing...

...is that, while she has a "personality," it's a personality that well over 50% of the electorate finds utterly annoying. Sure, she may appeal to the Republican Talibornagain "true believers," but you're not going to win an election with only them in your corner.

My guess is that, should the economy show signs of turning around in the next couple of years, Obama's re-election will be assured. If it isn't, people will opt for a Republican policy wonk like Romney, who can communicate the (B.S., but whatever) notion that Republican economic principles can fix matters. But they won't turn to an "I'd rather have a beer with this candidate" good ol' boy (or gal) next time around. The only reason that worked for Dubya was that things were going well, and people thought the country would be fine indefinitely on centrist autopilot.
