6. I was in Martha's Vineyard the weekend his plane went down. It was so traumatic.

What a horrible experience. I don't even want to think about it.

Ithinkhe was a superstar in the making and he would probably have been considered for a Senate seat ifthe opportunity presented itself. I thought he was wonderful.

What a sad, sad day it was! I remember just being so depressed...we didn't even walk in the water at the beach, cuz I was so freaked out about their luggage washing up on shore at MV...a bad, bad day. I felt like I had spent my whole life mourning dead Kennedy's ...

23. Early that morning I got up to feed my baby granddaughter and heard a helicopter

flying over. I picked her up to take her outside to see it. I remember thinking how strange it looked. It was orange. Later I learned that it was a Coast Guard helicopter.

My son in law came downstairs a few minutes earlier saying that he had just turned on the TV and there were reports that JFK, Jr.'s plane was missing over MV. A large boat from the Oceanagraphic center in Woods Hole was also dispatched to the island and then a very large plane (I had never seen such a lumbering huge plane that seemed to just hang in the air). AFter the big plane went over they determined the location of JFK, Jr.'s aircraft.

I still have my Black Dog T shirt with the year, 1999, on it...

which is the political/current events magazine that JFK Jr. edited up until his untimely death. Who knows whether or not he would have been primed for his uncle's former seat. I can say that I appreciated his work per his magazine. He showed a lot of promise per understanding the political climate of the time. I don't know that it would have translated into a senate seat.

After all, his magazine was more glamor and celebrity than substance. And he dated a string of actresses, celebrities, etc. It didn't look like he was looking for a career in politics.

He was fabulous and reminded me much of my brother.....They both have/had the over brimming natural charm that just make them shine no matter what room they walk/ed into. The Good looks that could not be rivaled, and the humility to carry them off. Always having the right thing to say, and telling stories like no one else could....and everyone wanting to be around in their orbit. My brother also has had a pilot license since he was barely a teen ager. He is a year older than me. Girls would come to spend the night with me, and would disappear in the middle of the night (sluts!) I was always told that I was good looking, but next to him, I was the ugly duckling. I have beautiful green eyes, people would reassure me ...but he had the outrageous peepers that hypnotized.

Obama reminds me much of them in that effortless way he has about his gifts.

I just pray that both my brother (he lives in Bangkok and directs a Thai freightline at that Airport that is currently under siege. He emailed me to say he was OK, but very busy dealing with the "mess" there) and Barack Obama will stay safe...because I will say again, John Kennedy Jr.'s death had me crying for days.
