Jon Favreau is going to be just fine. Here's why:
This guy is gearing up to run for Governor of VA.

Guess who he worked for at the time?

1. Where was the Clinton supporter outrage when Bill cheated on Hillary?
That was far more disrespectful of Hillary Clinton than feeling up a piece of cardboard.

2. I think there can be levels of disrespect
and levels of outrage.

I think that those who are dismissing it outright, would react differently if, say the cardboard representation was of....Michelle Obama, or Barack.

It is a stupid disrespectful act done by someone who is obviously immature.

12. No that's not true. Symbols can be very meaningful. Burning someone in
effigy, for example, or hanging a noose from a tree are powerful symbols. Those two idiots were acting like frat boy fools and behaving in a lewd, unacceptable way towards the 'symbol' of Hillary Clinton.

What I wonder is why these men were carrying around an image of Hillary Clinton to parties with them. I find that a little creepy.

Noose?

Moronic.

21. What's a cardboard cutout a powerful symbol of?
Feigned outrage usually results in ratcheting up the ludicrous analogies: What Favreau did is the same as the relationship between a noose and lynching.

Ludicrous.

If it were a cut out of Michelle Obama, perhaps you would react differently.

23. If it were a cut out of Michelle Obama...
the first two pages of this forum would consist almost entirely of elaborately formatted posts with lots of pretty blue links pointing to the author's other elaborately formatted posts with lots of pretty blue links and so on and so on like Russian dolls.

25. You crack me up
The idea that a photograph or cut out or representation of a person means nothing...is laughable.

I do not believe you. I believe you are selective. I believe that if that symbol were of anyone else, you would be on your 100th thread.

I thought you took pictures with it if you liked the person.

28. I would imagine it would depend on what you do with a likeness
of another person. It could be respectful or disrespectful.

Come on. This is not the worst thing in the world, but it is certainly disrespectful and fratboyish. To completely deny it is stretching credibility.

33. It's stupid that they let it get on the internet. But that's hardly a shocking party picture.
Dig around facebook, and you'll find all kinds of shit. That picture is not even close to being shocking.

Just what I want to do at a party, have one guy fondle my breast while another one inserts a bottle of beer in my mouth. Ohhh, that sounds like so much fun..........

5. Well, Hillary Clinton herself wasn't outraged at this.
On the other hand, she was outraged at Bill, and made no secret about it.

"I think that those who are dismissing it outright, would react differently if, say the cardboard representation was of....Michelle Obama, or Barack."

No, because it's cardboard.

And just as Hillary Clinton can (and did) shrug this off, so too would Michelle and Barack Obama if the cutout was of one of them.

If the "victim" of this isn't outraged, I wouldn't be either, as a supporter.

And I'm amused by your continued silence on Bill's cheating, which IMO was immensely disrespectful of Hillary Clinton, much more so than this (and she agrees with me!).

"It is a stupid disrespectful act done by someone who is obviously immature."

I agree. Bill Clinton was very immature.

6. I am Hillary primary supporter and I can tell you
that the cut out thing I could care less about. I don't fault the kid for doing it -- he was having fun, a laugh -- but he was dopey to but it up on Facebook.

Should he be fired. Definitely not. It's a non-issue........

As far as Bill cheating......he humiliated his wife and he lied to her and you and me and all of America about it. Do I think he should have been impeached? No. But I do think that he needs to step aside and keep his trap shut while his wife goes about her business as Obama's SoS.

And I would venture that 99% of the Hillary supporters still on DU would agree with me on both these comments.

I'm sorry to say that 99% of the people here attacking Favreau claim to be Hillary Clinton supporters.

I agree, Favreau was stupid for putting it online for all to see.

But I just wish everyone here saw this as the non-issue that it really is.

11. So Clinton supporters were demanding that Bill resign in 1998?
I must have missed that.

That would be the only thing comparable to what the self-appointed Outrage Police here are asking for.

Of course, I was just pointing out the double standards and cognitive dissonance required for Clinton supporters to demand that Favreau be fired or resign while not demanding the same of Bill Clinton.

But what else is new?

13. You dont' have to call for Bill's firing to be upset at what happened in 1998
How the hell do you know that Clinton supporters weren't outraged over what happened back then? You simply assume way too much.

For that matter, I don't know of a single Clinton supporter who wasn't upset with him at the time. It doesn't mean that any of us would do something as idiotic as call for his firing over a personal affair.

By the same standard, Clinton should have resigned, right?

Unless you enjoy double standards and cognitive dissonance, that is.

20. Obama is one of the most careful politicians I've ever seen
so I'll leave it up to him whether or not he thinks Jon Favreau should remain as part of his team. I'm not going to stay up nights worring about it.

Speaking of double standards, though, there is surely more than a fair share of people here who would never hold the same favorable standards for Jon Favreau as they do now, had Favreau done the same thing to a cardboard cutout of Michelle Obama and flaunted it online.

17. What a ridiculous post. There was no DU then, nor
was the internet as ubiquitous as it is now. Do you really expect that the MSM was going to just go on and on about Clinton lovers and their hatred for Bill and what he did to Hillary?

Puleez, get a grip.

10. Was Favreau ever in any real danger?
He's Obama's head speech writer after all and the trick of speechwriting is making the client say your brilliant words while somehow managing to make it sound as though they issued straight from their own soul.
