Why is it that so many people on this forum can't simply root for Caroline without trying to get everyone else to hate Hillary at the same time? Isn't it enough for you that the Clintons are already the target of so much unnecessary vitriol on this forum?

Why do you have to pit the two of them against each other? Is Caroline running against Hillary or something?

You'll use any excuse out there to slam a Clinton, even it it's someone as dear to most Democrats as Caroline Kennedy. You just can't resist a new opportunity to go after Hillary.

By pitting Caroline vs Hillary, all it ends up doing is getting some folks to take sides for one or the other. That leads to more unnecessary attacks against Hillary when she didn't do anything to deserve them, and in return it will eventually lead to some condescending remarks made toward Caroline. That shit just aint right.

The people who are using the Caroline Kennedy situation to run Hillary into the earth ought to be ashamed. If you're not ashamed, then you're either on the wrong board and only here to create more division or you might be seriously ill, one or the other.

3. do you have a link, or at least a description of the thread?
 I haven't been online all day, but the only caroline threads I've seen so far are just talking about caroline or the kennedys. I haven't seen yet what you're talking about.

at any rate, I'll assume you're correct -- my comment would be that qualifications for office are certainly malleable these days: name recognition seems as valid as any other parameter. On that basis, I think she'd qualify, as would Bill Clinton, someone mentioned last week.

Personally, I'd prefer someone qualified but not tied to a dynasty family, but that's just me.

4. Dynasties are a problem only when the unqualified are placed in
power - such as the chimp.

I don't believe that's a problem with Caroline. She's at least as qualified, and more so, than most those on the other side of the aisle.

5. Using the search parameter 'caroline kennedy pro bono legal work' one finds top of Google
the following thread: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x4330764 and at the top of it we see the heart strings strumming. I know these things, I know what I'm looking at, my daddy was murdered too; but we see daddy's girl and her father put-putting round what seems Chesapeake in less contentious life & times. We learn the following and in that process understand that many consider the words insoluble:

"She has not exploited her name, her father’s legacy for political or financial gain. On her name alone, she could have a seat in the House or the Senate. With little effort, she could use her celebrity for immense personal gain. She has chosen not to.

Instead, she chose to protect the dream of Camelot that was her family’s gift to this country. She works to further her family's ideals, to encourage public service."

Setting aside 'camelot' for a moment; there's a couple things going on with respect to being encouraged, or the call to public service and the progeny of old, or new by comparison; dynastic wealth. And uber-rich families such as the Bush family share both of them. Beyond a certain point there simply isn't enough cache in owning some maybe ascending maybe declining corporate sports franchise'. Or lifting, floating, and then renovating the villas on the Grand Canal however stately; they are someone else's problem. But there's beau coup cache in smiling/waving cross the stage of one's father's international peace forum to moderate the podium...that *is* cache!! Caroline Kennedy, who my heart goes out to, did not have to exploit nor convert anything into political or financial gain as it was already there. Her footsteps, on her pathway, have been well groomed throughout and in advance as has been the pathway itself.

It is a form of Mobius Strip, however: "On her name alone, she could have a seat in the House or the Senate. With little effort, etc..." No, Caroline Kennedy is John Fitzgerald Kennedy's darling girl, JFK, and everyone knows it. The world knows it.

Questions may be: does *that* convert into a U.S. Senate seat representing NY State? Is that where her pathway is leading her?
