At the time in 2006, it was a tossup between he and Judy Baar-Topinka as to which one would have been indicted more quickly.

I still think Topinka would have been indicted more quickly had she become the governor.

I also felt it was important to have a Democratic Governor and Lt. Governor in place for when Obama won the presidency. I was right on that count, too.

I was also right to vote against Blagojevich in the primary.

On Edit: If I had to go back and do it again, I would ahve still voted for Blagojevich.

I'm only getting info from the MSM. I don't live in Illinois like you do (but I am your neighbor; I'm in Iowa).

5. First of all, what Nader used to say about the two parties

is mostly TRUE in Illinois.

In Chicago, they're Democrats.

Outside the cities, they're REpublicans.

Tehre have been politicians who moved from the city to teh 'burbs who became Republicans because of the move.

And both sides cooperate with each other.

Obama is that rare exception because he wasn't exposed to it all long enough to be corrupted by it.

It's worse than that

It's really difficult to know where to begin. Illinois/Chicago government is so corrupt, so in the hands of nepotists and politicians who treat office like personal fiefdoms and monarchies, at the end of the day you just have to throw your hands in the air and deal with it.

My personal favorite was when the President of the Cook County board had a massive stroke, entered a coma, and did nothing . . . until it was entirely convenient for his son and suddenly gained the power of marking complicated political documents with X's.

It's like bad soap opera.

Unfortunately, this is probably the best we can do. The Republicans were even worse when they were in office.

2. I feel the same way - and I've met Topinka

My husband and I were used as photo op props while she pimped her cookbook. We were staying at the Ronald McDonald House, when we were asked to meet her (we were in the Spfld area visiting family when I went in to preterm labor). I had no idea what to expect, and she barely said two words to us. Her PR/staffer also kept at a distance until time to take the picture. The news was there, and interviewed us afterwards... Poor Judy - they spent 15seconds on her, and 5min on us. :lol:
