Poll question: If it were "Carl Kennedy" who was being considered...
Would there be as much outrage...? I am mixed on my feelings towards Caroline Kennedy getting the seat... but I can't help but wonder if the tone would be different if Caroline was a man. It seems people would be jumping up and down at the prospect of a young handsome Kennedy male being placed in the queue of potential democratic presidential candidates for 2016.

1. That's just SAD. Don't go there - don't continue to embarrass yourself.
:(

2. I think she's being considered for a couple of reasons...
Her Uncle Ted wants her to be there to help get the health care legislation through. She'd be an ally of Obama's and do him good early in his administration. And when it's time to run she'll step aside but meantime campaign for the next candidate and help raise lots of money for that campaign and the Party.

I'm wondering if the Party is just not ready to pick a permanent candidate and she can serve, for her uncle's sake, for two years.

I don't have an opinion for your poll.

3. She is a wealthy woman from a famous family-
To some that makes her empty headed, selfish, spoiled and incapable of having done anything worthwhile in her life.

5. Of course
Well if you think that "outrage" is the right word in any case. I see it more as ennui over another example of cronyism more than outrage. Picking a descendant of a political family who has no great achievements (while having perfectly valid qualificiations) is just as half-assed regardless of their genitalia.

Sure she's well-educated and has a nice resume, but so are tens of thousands of others who have done more concrete work in politics. If you think she would have been picked absent relationship to the Kennedys then you're nuts. There's not one single NY state politician who is as well educated and electable? If you accept that her family ties brought anything to the decision then how COULD it be any different for a Kennedy male with a similar background?
