Browner to Take White House Energy and Environment Job
By Al Kamen

President-elect Barack Obama is expected to announce -- perhaps as early as Wednesday -- that Clinton administration Environmental Protection Agency chief Carol Browner will take a new White House position as head of environmental, energy, climate and related matters, according to Democratic sources.

Now a principal at The Albright Group, a "global strategy firm" founded by former secretary of state Madeleine Albright, Browner was the longest-serving administrator in EPA history.

It was unclear if any of the related agency chiefs within her portfolio would be named along with her.

I assume this is the Energy Czar job. And my guess is Gore probably recommended her.

Let the ripping begin. Tell us how she is not progressive enough

1. I don't know enough about her to comment...

But I'm assuming Al Gore approves of her?

4. She and Gore were pretty solid on enviro issues before they had to carry out Clinton's orders.

Unfortunately, Gore is the one who took the hit to his reputation back then, as this was the key issue that caused Greens to turn on him. Absolutely not fair to Gore or Browner, as I highly doubt either of them would have sided WTI in any way, shape or form, but for Clinton's orders.

2. Here is stuff about her from Wikipedia:
Edited on Wed Dec-10-08 01:14 AM by Jennicut
"When Republicans took control of Congress after the 1994 elections, she took the lead in the Clinton Administration in successfully fighting efforts by the Republicans, especially in the House of Representatives, to weaken the Clean Water Act. She was able to work in a bipartisan manner, though, with Congressional Republicans in helping craft amendments to strengthen the Safe Drinking Water Act and the Food Quality Protection Act.

She worked as an aide for Gore before coming to the Whitehouse, Gore obviously would approve.

5. She's progressive enough....she obviously disagreed with some RW moves by Clinton, recusing herself
on some of the WTI matters he wrangled her into earlier. That shows she knew they were wrong, and sought to distance herself from Clinton's ongoing protection of Jackson Stephens.
