Personally, I believe this has nothing to do with Obama....But in politics perception is reality, and the GOP Slime Machgine would be working overtime with this loose cannon, and we'd all be banging our heads and yelling "On Noes!" and nervously watching the polls.

..Obama hadn't vacated his seat yet. And it wasn't 100% certain there would even be an appointment to sell.

right before the election -- they have to be very careful that they don't influence elections with their investigations. It's a policy of the DoJ not to reveal such things, which is one reason they got into trouble with all of their "investigations" of dems right before elections, which got "leaked" by anonymous sources to the press consistently.

That said, I'm glad they did their job the right way. This has nothing to do with Obama, and it could have been used to influence the election in a negative and incorrect way.
