In my opinion is going to be stripped from any chance he may have had in the senate. This was not only a sad day for Illinois but for all of us. The MSM implied that his name would hurt him moving forward. It has a very familiar ring when they made a joke out of Baracks middle name. Very sad

Jackson has a consistent liberal record on both social and fiscal issues.<5> His pet issue is the pursuit of the proposed Chicago south suburban airport to serve as a third major airport for the Chicago metropolitan area. He has been a very active Democratic spokesperson for other Democratic candidates and a popular interviewee and broadcast media guest. In his 40% white district, he has generated broad based support which has repeatedly earned him re-election by wide 5-to-1 and 10-to-1 margins.<6>

Jackson Is Top Choice of Illinois Democrats To Succeed Obama in Senate

The Chicago congressman who has been openly campaigning for the job has the support of 36% of Illinois Democrats, according to a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state taken Tuesday night.

Tammy Duckworth, director of Illinois’ Department of Veterans Affairs, is next with the backing of 29%, followed by state Attorney General Lisa Madigan with 17%.

Another congressman mentioned for the post, Rep. Jan Schakowksy, has eight percent (8%) support, with Emil Jones, president of the Illinois Senate, at two percent (2%). Just seven percent (7%) of Democrats are not sure which candidate they prefer.

Madigan is the top vote-getter among Republicans (37%) and those unaffiliated with either party (23%). Nearly one-third in both these groups, however, are undecided, which is perhaps not surprising since all the action is on the Democratic side.

Among all Illinois residents, Madigan attracts 25% support, closely followed by Jackson with 23%. Duckworth is next with the backing of 21%. Schakowksy has seven percent (7%) support, with Jones at three percent (3%). Twenty-one percent (21%) are undecided.

6. I don't agree

Jesse Jackson Jr, had a promising career in politics but this may have ruined it for him. I find this very sad. I really don't think he was involved in the pay for play scheme. Jesse's resources would have been more limited I think.

As tonycinia said, he didn't look like someone who was speaking from the heart with conviction. He looked like he was "on message".

I remember when his dad gave his "Keep Hope Alive" speech at the Convention many years ago. I was jumping up and down screamin' "Go Jesse, you tell it!" That was one powerful speech.

Ten seconds before I read your comment I was wondering if anyone else noticed the obvious not making eye contact.I watched it twice ,he kept looking to the side so much I thought maybe someone important was to his right.Also did you notice as he was leaving he started to answer a question and some aid practically pulled him through a door.If you have nothing to hide you should be more than willing to talk forever and clear your name.He MAY be covering for his dad.

There is no way this seat will be appointive any more ....
