Dean
I'm sorry if this has already gone through the mill but I'm dying to know if Howard Dean will get anything in the cabinet or if he's heading back to VT. Does anyone know anything? Also, did Judy stay in VT or move to DC? Thanks.

1. No money from me
until Dean is given an important position by Obama. I've given at least $3000 this year to Obama and other Dems. I realize that's not a fortune but it's $3000 they won't get if they continue to ignore Howard. If it weren't for Howard Obama wouldn't be headed to the White House.

2. Agreed.
I have no money to give but I agree with your sentiment. None of this is possible without Dean. Not just DNC Dean, everything he's done.

3. First the rat worms need to be cared for
Then we can get some folks we can be proud of...

I doubt the dems will bank their future on an unpopular Bush and a popular Obama.

4. I'm pretty sure Judy stayed in Burlington
No word on what Governor Dean's future holds from what I've heard.

5. I'm beginning to wonder if Dean wants a position
I just assumed he would want something, but who knows? Maybe he's sick of DC after running the DNC for the past 4 years.

If he does want a position in this admin, I think Obama would be crazy not to find something for him. Dean gets things done.

9. I didn't realize that
Thanks for letting me know. As a HUGE Dean fan, I really hope he gets the position he wants whatever it may be.

11. He has said he would consider a cabinet position.
Edited on Thu Dec-11-08 12:33 PM by madfloridian
But I don't think he will get one. Those initial hit pieces that came out right after we won the election, about the time he stepped down...made it pretty clear that he is too "partisan" to fit.

http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/3112

His name is not spoken among the party leadership at all. When the letter went out from Plouffe at the DNC to help pay off the debt incurred by last minute loans to help them win...Dean's name was not mentioned.

BUT some of us got almost the same letter that did mention Dean's name, but it was from a staffer other than Plouffe.

Judy did not move to DC, she continues her practice in VT. He goes there most week-ends.

I think it is the party's way of saying that those he brought on board stir things up too much. And they are right, we do and did. And will.

7. He's still a relatively young man
with a helluva political skill set. I sincerely hope we haven't seen the last of him. Obama does owe him a lot, but he doesn't necessarily have to operate under the new administration's umbrella to be an effective agent for progressive change. I'm thinking he's probably happier in Vermont than D.C., but unfortunately, the latter is the center of power. Whatever Gov. Dr. Howard Dean ends up doing, I hope it makes him feel fulfilled and happy. He really deserves that at the very least.:toast:
