My Suggestions for President-Elect Obama re PR war in Blagovich affair

1. Hold an press conference of unlimited duration answering all media questions related to this.
2. At the end introduce COS Emmanuel and Adviser Jarrett at the Chicago Hilton and leave them alone (it's protocol that the president doesn't stay when less senior advisers are giving press conferences) to answer every last question the media has.
3. Don't worry about the media demanding to get the list of contacts now. Take yuur time but in a week or so, release the document and have it outline every single conversation that every single aide had with Blagovich no matter how trivial about the senate appointment.
4. Send a senior official out to do GMA, The Early Show, Today, American Morning, Fox and Friends and Morning Joe as well as MTP, FN Sunday, MTP, Late edition and Face the Nation to directly address further any outstanding questions.
5. Make it part of the 100 day agenda to pass sweeping ethics legislation to ensure that a thug like Blagovich will never be able to committ these crimes again.

An effort like this will shut the media propagandists right up and end this before it turns into Whitewater II.

1. Are you kidding? There's nothing that will shut them up, nothing at all.

Logic and reason doesn't enter into this, not with these people. Remember Vince Foster, the man that Hillary or Bill was supposed to have murdered? No number of news conferences, no press releases, nothing could have convinced the crazies otherwise.

And more recently, with Obama. He released his birth certificate, the legal birth certificate that is the only one that is provided for on the State of Hawaii application form. (There is no place on the application to even ask for the famous "long form" that the tinfoil hat people are demanding.) The head of the State Dept. of Vital Statistics vouched for its authenticity. And yet dozens of lawsuits have been filed all over the country by people claiming he wasn't actually born there.

As to the Blago situation, Obama needs to release the info he promised to release. But the more he releases, the more the crazies will find to nit and pick. Nothing he does will make him stop. And going over the top for this minor incident (minor in terms of his involvement) will set a precedent for the rest of his Presidency.

2. But he's not taking a hit for it in the polls.

People can complain all they want about it, but unless the general public feels the same way, it doesn't matter. So far, Obama's numbers haven't changed.

3. That's true-his approval ratings have actually gone up

And the honeymoon will re-start the week of Jan 20th.

5. He will not admit that he stopped beating his wife.

He will also not admit that he has stopped raping his children, or serving the family dog to the family for dinner.

*ALL* questions means that these old canards, and variations on them, are valid.

Some questions, and questioners, simply have to be ignored/shunted, and ashamed at the appropriate time, in the appropriate ways.
