25. If everyone on this board mailed him a diaper and a subscription
to the mustang ranch, he might shut the fuck up.

5. Don't fuck with the unions.
As a collective and even alone, members know how to fight.

When I was volunteering for Obama, every time I would go to the Dem headquarters, there was always a large group of Union members in another part of the building doing their part to get him elected. They're the backbone of the Democratic party, and America.

8. Lots of anti-union sentiments in the comment section following that article. People sure are
easily swayed to be against something that's actually in their own best interest in the long run. I covet the fruits of their collective bargaining and would like in on it. Unions once had some pretty wide coattails to ride on and we all benefited. I'm tired of being underpaid to maintain the benefits of the fat cats and shareholders. Most of the commentary is how grossly overpaid these "unskilled laborers" are. :eyes:

Can't see the forest for the trees I reckon.

14. Just more examples of our dismal education today. Back in the day, I was taught about
Samuel Gompers, etc. Is Labor History taught in high schools anymore?

But seriously, I remember studying about Gompers and other labor leaders in American History classes too.
Way down here in Alabama back in the 50s.

24. No. Why would you want to teach students about those unAmerican unions?
What are you a Communist?

:sarcasm:

And that's by design. Keep people ignorant and you can walk all over them.

26. Unions are democracy in the workplace.
And THAT is the reason why the greedy vampire capitalists fight like hell against them. I'm coming up on being a 20 year Teamster in April '09, and it has always been about getting my fair share of the fruits of my labor. I work hard every day for my employer. I am loyal to fault. But by God, you will respect my labor because it's all I have to give!

That being said, the corporate behemoth(YRCW) which swallowed up my industry leading trucking company (New Penn Motor Express),has leveraged the entire conglomeration into junk stock status and has now asked for a %10 wage concession in order for us to survive. You've seen one of us out on the road near you, Yellow, Roadway, USF Holland, USF Reddaway, or New Penn. We are the nation's largest LTL freight company(S) and it is about to collapse because of complete fucking insanity on the part of our corporate masters. In August they were in China buying a trucking outfit for $50 million, and in November they come to all 40,000 US employees asking for ten percent of our wages to keep our jobs afloat!

10. Keith's not on tonight
but David Shuster read the entire memo on the air. It was a blatant partisan attack on the UAW, and organized labor in general, blaming them for the failures of the auto industry.
America is a LIBERAL country. Not center-left, center-right, center -corporatist-tool or any other such thing. Time to return to sanity.....

33. Where are the union-endorsed Democrats, and why aren't they saying anything like this too? Will
someone please tell me why the UAW is standing alone on this? JAYZUS H, the unions should stop endorsing if all they get from Democrats is "Umm....sorry?"

34. That's the way to play it... shoot back and aim between the eyes
Obama needs to do that as well. As soon as any Repigs start to try to play up the faux-scandal charade, Obama and/or his staff need to shoot back and aim to cut down in their tracks.

Do that a few times and the Repigs will think twice before trying to stop change.
