http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_SingelSingel was also an early Obama supporter, having endorsed him early on like Bob Casey, Jr., when it apparently wasn't fashionable to do so here in PA.
http://www.tribune-democrat.com/local/local_story_081232610.htmlNote the irony of Rendell essentially endorsing Tweety?
It seems almost an eternity ago but aside from the Willie Horton-like crap that the repukes did to him back in the '90s, the man could actually appeal across PA far better than Tweety. He is Pro-Choice, a central-PAer with a long history in PA politics back almost 30 years. He's not currently in elective office but according to wikipedia, there are rumors he might be interested again.
I think the dynamics of the state have changed enough to give him a MUCH MUCH better chance to get it this time (as anyone who lives in PA long enough knows how some candidates try try again but often eventually get it finally - like Bob Casey, Sr.).
The drawback here might be something that I saw from a DU archive regarding some of his previous lobby things:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=175x3321This was when his name came up as a possible opponent vs the kook Santorum in 2006. But now that Casey has that seat, here we go again...
I am throwing out this possibility as an alternate to the continual suggestions of pulling freshman out of the House like Sestak or Murphy to run against someone like Specter who has been around a long time and has a record and a war chest.
