2) I don't think she has the stomach for it. I like and admire her, but I've never seen any sign that she has the stomach for the rough and tumble of elective politics or the mundane and grueling task of campaigning for it. It's one thing to campaign part time for Obama, it's another to put herself in the position of a candidate herself.

I just don't see it happening. And I don't see her running in 2010 if it doesn't.

Governor Patterson is probably going to appoint someone who will want to run in 2010.

He is aware that we need to keep the seat.

This hair-splitting of yours makes for a nice theory, but in practice, appointing a placeholder who will quietly retire in 2010 is not going to happen.
