Iraqi man throws size 10 shoe at President Bush
Not kidding, I just heard it on Wolf Blitzers show, reported by the British war correspondent. I hope we get to see some pictures of this.

8. It is! Saddam's statue on Firdos Square was beating with shoes.
Bush deserves something of more substance than being hit by shoes.

3. Me, too.
I thought Bush would make that standard remark that in a democracy there is the right to voice displeasure. Guess shoes don't rate.

Get over it, pal. The man who dared throw a shoe at * is an Iraqi expressing his contempt for the thug who wrecked his country and killed, oh, a million or so innocent civilians there.

There could be a lot more shoe-throwing in the next few weeks.

24. Fuck his "expression of contempt"
That is the President of the United States there. I hate Bush just as much as anyone but that doesn't mean I'm okay with seeing the President assaulted.

You can call me what you like and say he's not your president all you want, none of it changes the fact that for now, he is still the president. No amount of hatred for Bush will ever make me say that this is okay. The man should go to prison.

13. WOW! Just saw the video of it on CNN
He threw both shoes and he had one hell of an arm. Both shoes would have hit Bush in the face if he hadn't ducked. CNN is saying that this is considered one of the worst insults in Iraqi culture.

:wow:

28. Arabic culture, yep......
Showing the soles of ones feet is disrespectful, as is throwing or hitting someone with your shoe or shoes. He also called Bush a "Dog", which is pretty nasty too as dogs are unclean according to Islam.

About the only thing he could have done worse was shook his hand or offered him something with his left hand.

I am really offended. As much as I want Bush out of office, I think the US Presidency needs to be respected. That Iraqi needs to go to jail.

18. hey, another freeper
Whatsa matter, pal? Freedom of speech for some, but not for Iraqis? I thought we went to war to bring freedom to Iraq. Right after we went to war because of weapons of mass destruction. Or was that we went to war because Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 and * was too drunk to stay on course?

NOTE TO FREEPERS: GET OVER IT!!!!! GET LOST!!!! AND DON'T LET THE DOOR HIT YA ON THE WAY OUT!!!!

(shoes, however, are another thing...)

It's too bad it has been so completely disrespected by the current office-holder.

29. That shoe was thrown at the president of our nation, at a man representing
you and me, our family, our friends, our neighbors.

It was thrown because George W. Bush behaved cruelly, unconscionably, and incompetently for the last 8 years.

In my opinion, no shoe would have been thrown at Al Gore or at John Kerry.
