Today Is The Day...Electoral College Elects Barack Hussein Obama
as our President.

Each state handles this in its own way. Here in Minnesota, electors will meet at the state Capitol Building to cast their unanimous vote for President.

After today, we may refer to President-elect Barack Obama with complete truthfulness.

2. Of course not...the birthers will never let up.
They'll keep on their nonsense for the full 8 years, no matter how many birth certificates they see or how many times their silliness gets thrown out of court.

Heck, there are folks who still think the story of Lincoln's assassination was made up. Screw 'em.

5. I'm not quite sure what your reason for sarcasm might be...
This step of the process of electing a President is important. It is how we do it. I hadn't seen any other threads on the event, so I posted one.

Yes, we voted for electors for Barack Obama on November 4. Now, on December 15th, those electors are casting their votes, in accordance with our wishes. Following that, the electoral votes will be tallied in Congress, early in January, on the 6th, I believe.

Each step in the process is worthy of note, if only to commemorate our system of government. You may be cynical about the process, but I am not.

6. Well, given the November 4 results, it's a foregone conclusion
that Barack Obama will be our next President. Still, the electoral system is a very important part of our process for selecting Presidents. So, I'm a little surprised that more attention isn't being paid.

If it were not hazardous to drive today, I'd try to be a the Minnesota State Capitol to observe the process. I like our system of government. It's unfortunate that so few people even know how it works.
