I've died and gone to heaven: Obama administration will value "science" and "facts"
I feel like I am waking up from a long nightmare where the dumbasses ruled. How pathetic that we have to point out that science and facts should be valued, how pathetic that every single person in their right mind shouldn't know this already.

http://tpmelectioncentral.talkingpointsmemo.com/2008/12/obama_my_administration_will_v.php

It's been pointed out dozens of times that it's pretty cool to have an adult coming in as president, and today's Obama press conference -- now underway -- is a case in point.

At the presser, Obama made his "green team" official: Steven Chu, a physics Nobel laureate, is his new energy secretary. Carol Browner, the former head of the Environmental Protection Agency, is the head of a new policy council to coordinate climate, environment and energy issues. And Lisa Jackson, the chief of staff for New Jersey's governor, is head of the EPA.

"My administration will value science," Obama said, in what sounded like a pointed reference to his predecessor. "We will make decisions based on facts."

2. Me too. My husband and I watched the press conference and
I was crying nearly the whole time. We have a President who gets it. After eight years of neglect. It's still hard to believe this is happening .

20. I know! VERY exciting times.
I was so pleased to learn of that pick. I am really looking forward to seeing his administration in action, doing things that don't make me cry inside like the last 8 years. :D

But you made it through and voted in what will probably be the most brilliant administration. It will be okay now.:grouphug:

17. Yes!!! A President who is intelligent and doesn't have to rely on Faith and Prayer
To make his decisions for him. No more faith based wars, faith based environmental policies, faith based economic policies, AND more importantly, no more faith based stupidity!!!

10. You would think this would be standard operating procedure
for any government, right or left, but I guess not. As a scientist, I have to say that the willful ignorance of the last eight years has been simply astounding.

11. Don't worry: Bush left behind enough hell to soon disabuse you of that delusion
Though it is strange and wonderful to see an American government that believes in "facts" and likes to approach the questions of fact with "science".

I guess the Dark Ages have been put on hold for a few years.

14. Goodbye to the pushing of "intelligent design" ! Welcome back just plain ol'e INTELLIGENCE!
I'm so happy to hear that Obama said that out load, not that i didn't already know that's how he was going to make his decisions, but it's so refreshing that we have someone that will lead us by going off facts and not faith. Not to say he doesn't have faith but he is one of those rare few that wont make decisions for the masses based on his personal religious beliefs.

No longer will we have a president who ignores the damage done to this planet because to them the end is coming so who cares what shape we live this earth in.
No longer will we have a president who puts faith based limits on the scientific community, hindering them from solving the worlds diseases.
No Longer will we have a president who feels the need to inject his faith based values into every americans personal lives regardless of their differing faith and beliefs.

Thank goodness, a real change has happened.

21. It's sad when this excites us.
Seeing as how the last eight years have seen us making decisions about the environment based on someone's religious beliefs or political leanings, this is a welcome change and a breath of fresh air.

As a Biotech major, I hope this means there will be more government money for Biotech, so we don't have to rely on dirty money from Monsanto and other companies that abuse biotech instead of using it for the public good.
