As a non-New Yorker; I only have 2 criteria I think are important for Hillary's seat.

1. That Patterson appoints a solid Democrat. A good solid liberal.

2. That the person Patterson appoints will be able to hold the seat in the next election and others to come.


If the person meets those thresholds, I'll be perfectly happy. If its Caroline, Cuomo or even the guy who saved someone life by laying over him in the subway; as long as the person meets both of the above, I'm happy.

I think "qualifications" are like movable goalposts to some people. A person is qualified if you support them, un-qualified if you don't. We have had many "qualified" people lead us over a cliff these last 8 years. If the person displays the right knowledge, temperment and judgment; I think that is more important than whether they have been able to win a political office before. Remember both Palin and Blago somehow won elections.

what seems to be her shyness. If she can be an effective campaigner, I have no problem with her as senator.

she did canvassing, and was all over the campaign trail. I hope she moves to Mass, and runs for her Uncle's seat. I don't think we'd have any problem electing her here, or her filling her Uncle's seat if it were necessary. What a shame she was born in New York, her family is in New York, she has worked in New York, passed the bar in New York, and has lived in New York her entire life.
