Salazar to Interior could be a good trade
He's been a disappointing senator, and if he's out of the Senate, that could open it up to someone more progressive like Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, or Colorado Speaker Andrew Romanoff or former Denver Mayor Wellington Webb.

Of course, the danger is that Salazar is apparently lobbying to have his brother, John Salazar, named to the seat. John is even more of a blue dog than Ken and represents a Republican-leaning district that could go red again if he's out.

But so long as John Salazar doesn't replace Ken Salazar, this could be a very good trade, and Colorado could have TWO progressive, Democratic senators.

2. I think that Webb would be an inspired pick.....
and provide one African-American Senator, without it being "forced".

Here some info, for those who don't know who we are speaking of....

3. Romanoff
The whole country needs a dose of that guy. He's been great for Colorado.

4. It appears that there is actually an abundance of good solid replacements in
Colorado for Salazar....someone who's votes like Baucus and Blanche Lincoln.

Perhaps this is a good move, and I'm possibly glad that Obama took this one out for closer supervision, considering that Salazar's record on issues important to the interior are actually quite good.
