I mean, this guy Mark Halperin is over on AC360 Bloviating on how Barack OBama is going to HAVE to show how he's gonna be transparent and have open government. Obama isn't totally "out of the woods" yet in reference to the Blagojevich thing, Halperin proclaimed (he may have been wagging his finger, but the camera didn't show it)....blah, blah, blah.

I'm trying to figure out, and wondered if anyone could help me out on this Is this Halperin guy new on the scene? I haven't heard of him demanding such from George Bush.....ever!

So does anyone know this Halperin guy?.....cause I'm sure if he was around in the last 8 years, he would have had some real big feet to hold over a roaring 4 alarm blaze!

6. So in other words, he's been there.....
so nothing has really "Changed" when it comes to him. Still utilizing the same double standard, and being a hypocrite who talks with a straight face. That's what I thought!

14. yes - Here's the book
http://search.barnesandnoble.com/The-Way-to-Win/Mark-Halperin/e/9781400064472

When it first came out there was an excerpt that told in excruciating detail a story that the Republicans and Drudge put together pretty much out of thin air. John Kerry got a hair cut in DC for $75, a pretty standard non-story. They instead spoke of him paying $1000 for hair styling, coloring, and highlighting -- and they had completely made up quotes from the hair stylist on how fussy Kerry was. Now, Kerry's office and the hair place denied the story and said it was a $75 haircut only. The authors praised the Republicans and Drudge for TOTALLY MAKING UP the story because it was a masterful way to distort who Kerry was.

(This in spite of the story being denied effectively almost immediately.

Wasn't he the guy who got nothing right during the primaries and general?

Media needs reforming and these bloviators haven't learned a thing and have no clue why their demise is imminent.

10. Some examples...he really is one of the worst:
Media bias was more intense in the 2008 election than in any other national campaign in recent history, Time magazine’s Mark Halperin said Friday at the Politico/USC conference on the 2008 election.

“It’s the most disgusting failure of people in our business since the Iraq war,” Halperin said at a panel of media analysts. “It was extreme bias, extreme pro-Obama coverage.”

snip

Mark Halperin has outdone himself today, claiming that the McCain housing gaffe is bad for Obama.

No. Seriously: http://www.balloon-juice.com/?p=11134 Video at the link.

Here I think is an example of news judgment within the DC bell jar.

As I noted below, the 'news' today, as in things that have happened today and are newsworthy, is the fact that John McCain has dropped his position on Afghanistan and embraced the one Obama has been pushing for the last year. (As a secondary matter, we can note that McCain doesn't have the troops for his new position because they're tied down in Iraq. But let's not expect too much.)

And look at the headline at Mark Halperin's The Page: "Obama Acknowledges "Shift in Emphasis" on Issues."

And here's Halperin's gloss on McCain's new Afghanistan strategy: McCain "highlights the success of the surge (and Obama's opposition to it), says the troop increase strategies used in Iraq should also be applied to Afghanistan."

It's almost comical. It doesn't fit the script so it didn't happen.

Late Update: Okay, it's 7:27 PM. And Halperin now has a headline noting that McCain is "supposedly adopting Obama's position on troops in Afghanistan." The key though is that the headline is prompted by an email the Obama campaign sent out to reporters at 6:41 PM (yeah, we got it too.) Did I mention it's only "supposedly"?

http://windowsxp-privacy.net/?id=198760192 (TNR article where Halperin says Obama has an Iraq problem. . . entitled Flipping Out (Halperin)

Much MUCH more here: http://www.balloon-juice.com/?s=Halperin

John Cole HATES Halperin and has been calling him out all year. Some great stuff at the link...And really, you should read John everyday. He's funny and he's PISSED. Sort of like a reformed whore as he was once a republican. You'd never know it now however.

11. Oh, and I forgot him sucking up to Hewitt to convince Hugh he is not liberal and agrees with Hugh on
everything. Hugh is the wingnut who supported Romney because Mitt hates gays. (Hugh is a law school professor, scary.)

I honestly didn't think it was possible for Mark Halperin's behavior to become any more craven or cringe-inducing than it was during his three-hour submissive inquisition with Hugh Hewitt last night. But I was so wrong.

Today, Halperin is very upset -- very emotionally distraught -- because Hewitt remarked both during and after the interview that he thinks Halperin is "very liberal." Halperin spent three hours in the interview desperately trying to convince Hewitt that he is on Hewitt's side, but that wasn't enough to win Hewitt's approval. Nonetheless, Halperin is willing -- actually, quite eager -- to go to still greater and more horrifying lengths to obtain Hewitt's blessing.

First, Halperin e-mailed Hewitt today to again try to persuade Hewitt that he is not a liberal. Hewitt didn't print the e-mail but wrote about it on his blog, and claimed that Halperin "asked that apologize for the characterization and remove the description or post" in which he called Halperin "liberal."

Edited on Mon Dec-15-08 11:51 PM by Jennicut
F*ck him. Seriously. And all the others who are now so PIOUS about transparency in government. We just witnessed 8 years of a shadow government by a VP, the abuse of the Constitution, the abuse of presidential and vice presidential powers, cover ups, firings, the outing of a CIA agent, a war based on giving contracts out to Cheney's buds and this guy wants Obama to be more transparent. Go to hell, burn there for 100 years and may your soul be tortured for infinity. I am sick of this double standard crap. I want to know who was paid of in the media and how much because its becoming obvious now. Or perhaps DICK mentioned some water boarding lessons to a few so called journalists and scared them off.

The bought and paid for media has picked up where they left off with the hounding of Pres Clinton, completely skipping over the war criminal who destroyed the Constitution and raided the treasury. Unfuckingbelievable. :argh:
