Did Obama have to take Salazar from the Senate??
Look, I know Ken Salazar is no Russ Feingold, but I hate to lose a Democratic senator from a state like Colorado, if this was California, New York, etc. it'd be easy to replace & KEEP the seat safe, but CO. isn't the aforementioned...

Colorado has some real kooks who could run in 2010....That asshole Bob Schaffer (who lost tbis year to Mark Udall), who is a west coast version of Dick Santorum or perhaps that ultra-kook, witch-bitch Marilyn Musgrave who lost in her House race....

Perhaps some Colorado DUers could shed some light on some possible replacements for Salazar & their chances of winning in 2010....

3. Agreed
Many of us here in Colorado have not been at all happy with Salazar's voting record. However, his positions on Interior Dept. issues have been acceptable.
Ritter will have the chance to chose a more Democratic Democrat, of which there are many.

6. Double agreed
The only arena he seems to have his head screwed on right about. It's a good pick, and Ritter will appoint a strong Dem replacement.

2. Ritter's a Dem, right? He gets to appoint a replacement.
And Colorado's trending bluer--that'll make it harder, not easier, for a Republican to get elected.

4. I'm quite happy to have Salazar out of the Senate.
He was never going to get my vote again anyway.

5. Except in extreme cases (ie; Zell Miller), I'd always vote
for the Democrat, be it a House, Senate, or Presidential race...

In the case of someone like bat-shit crazy wacko like Zell Miller, I'd stay home....
