uh oh...Obama vs. Pelosi... this should be good
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 10:08 AM by wyldwolf
Since Pelosi has drawn scorn from the netroots lately, it will be interesting to see how this one plays out.

In talks with White House chief of staff-designate Rahm Emanuel and others, Politico reports House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has "set parameters" for what she wants from the Obama administration: "no surprises, and no backdoor efforts to go around her and other Democratic leaders by cutting deals with moderate New Democrats or conservative Blue Dogs."

"Specifically, Pelosi has told Emanuel that she wants to know when representatives of the incoming administration have any contact with her rank-and-file Democrats -- and why."

Said one source: "Pelosi is not going to allow Obama to triangulate her. It's not going to happen to her."

HER rank-and-file Democrats... :)

ah.. but it is the Politico...

2. Good luck with that, Nancy.
This is one of the reasons why Rahm was brought on board, IMO. To deliver votes.

6. She's not going to allow Obama to triangulate HER?
Here I thought it would be the other way around. And Rahm's no pushover--Nancy's dreaming if she thinks otherwise.

10. After she jumped into bed with Bush over 2 years ago she's worried about Obama cutting deals??
Now that is priceless! Pelosi is the LAST person who should worrying about anyone from the Obama administration cutting deals with moderate or conservative Democrats after she practically set the bar for that standard herself when she started kissing Bush's ass since the day after we won the majority back in November of '06. When it comes to cutting deals with conservatives it just doesn't get any more blatant than what she did. :puke:

20. Her place: Senate leader.
Not her place: sole, exclusive, power broker and communications channel between the WH and the Senate.

24. IF any of this is remotely true....
meaning this...and notice I said IF...

"Specifically, Pelosi has told Emanuel that she wants to know when representatives of the incoming administration have any contact with her rank-and-file Democrats -- and why."

Said one source: "Pelosi is not going to allow Obama to triangulate her. It's not going to happen to her."

Then it seems to me, someone needs to remind her, that they are both Democrats...she's supposed to work with him, not against him...throwing down a gauntlet this early in the game, seems a little obsurd...wb
