3. I think we should parcel them out. How about Caroline in NY; RFK, JR in IL and
perhaps Kathleen Kennedy Townsend in CO?

6. OTOH,
Obama keeps pulling DLC conservative Dem senators to work in his cabinet, opening up the Senate for replacements who are less inclined to be obstructionist to his goals. Senators are not answerable to the President, but cabinet members are so by pulling in the DLC he is actually pulling their fangs making them much less able to turn on him the way we've seen them do so often in the past.

At least I sure as shit HOPE that's what he's doing.

And you make more sense than so many of the posts about Caroline K.

13. that could happen, he's got the business connections for it
he's my mayor, and I think he's something of a lightweight myself.

still, he's got good PR people, and that's important in today's politics.

11. Andrew Romanoff
He's been the speaker of the Colorado General Assembly for the past four years. He's young and dynamic and has done a good job running the State Leg. I think he'd run a hell of a campaign in 2010, and he'd be a great representative for us in Washington.

I suggest Romanoff because right now he's without a job thanks to term limits. It's possible that he could be appointed to the Sec. of State office which is opening up here because the Republican who has that job now is going to become a Congressman in January. That would make sense for Romanoff too if there are more powerful people such as Dianna DeGette who want the Senate seat. Then maybe Romanoff could run for the Denver House seat in a special election. Actually, that would work pretty good...

DeGette for Senate
Romanoff takes over her House seat in Denver (which if he gets he could probably have for life - he's like 35 now)
Ken Gordon for Sec. of State.

That'll do just fine.

12. I like Romanoff
I would go with him or Perlmutter.

Do you think DeGette could win a statewide election? I have my doubts on that.

15. The Republicans are so messed up right now, who could beat her?
Not to be snarky, but name one Colorado Republican who could make a solid challenge. Holtzman? Beauprez? Elway?

Their bench is practically non-existent at this point. Let's not forget that Tom Tancredo said he's going to run in 2010. That should at least lead to a primary, and if he wins, the Repubs. are finished. If he loses, he'll at least bloody up the real candidate pretty badly. If we've learned anything about Tancredo, it's that his stench clings to anybody who comes near him.

17. Mike Coffman
tons of political experience, has won statewide election, served in both Afghanistan and Iraq, more of an oldstyle CO moderate Republican.

He would make a formidable candidate if the Republicans are smart enough to run him.
