(AP) — A spokesman for U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. tells The Associated Press the congressman has been talking to federal investigators about his dealings with Gov. Rod Blagojevich since summertime.

Spokesman Rick Bryant wouldn't give details of those discussions Tuesday morning.

But a report from WLS-TV in Chicago cites unidentified sources as saying Jackson has told investigators Blagojevich wouldn't appoint Jackson's wife as state lottery director because Jackson wouldn't donate $25,000 to the governor's campaign fund.

Jackson has acknowledged being the "Senate Candidate 5" referenced in the federal complaint against Blagojevich.

1. If this is true,

why would Blago figure JJJ would give him money for the Senate seat? Or could Blago have been trying to set up Jackson as payback for not giving him the $25K for his wife's appointment?

3. My understanding is that Blago thought ANYONE and EVERYONE would pay to play.

Hence, his remarks about PE Obama.

Ron Kuby is saying the tapes have Blago telling someone to rescind whatever was going on between Blago and Candidate 5 and that's why Fitzpatrick acted when he did (though some say it was too early), because valuable evidence was going to disappear.

or SOS? :shrug: I don't see anything wrong with putting in a good word for family members (assuming they're qualified).

If JJJ was part of the investigation, that would bode quite well for him. This would solidify my feeling that he is one of the good guys, for sure.

7. If this is true

then I believe JJJ when he said he didn't authorize anybody to offer to pay for the senate seat. It seems to be either of two things: a) Blago is lying and trying to get back at JJJ or b)someone was trying to make a deal with Blago behind JJJ's back.
