Just sent Chuck Todd a nasty e-mail
MSNBC has been particularly horrific today. Chuck's e-mail was the first I saw so I directed it to him.

I am so sick of them and so here's what I wrote:

Good day sir,

I have to say that I had a tremendous amount of respect for you during the primaries but I have lost all of it. MSNBC's coverage of the Illinois pay-for-play scandal and especially comments from your bureau chief, who is clearly a GOP corporate hack, Mark Whittaker (how much does the RNC pay him to spew his lies?-in fact how much does the RNC pay you to spew their lies), trying to tie President-Elect Obama to this scandal are quite frankly outrageous. U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald said on Tuesday, Dec 9, that his office was alleging absolutely no wrongdoing whatsoever regarding the president-elect and the transition team has made it clear that a full and complete accounting of all contacts with the IL governor's office will be released on Dec 22 as per the request of the USA's office. What more do you want from them? I guess the Clinton rules are back in effect. Your corporate masters, who tried as hard as they could to elect John Mccain, have now decreed to you that Obama must be destroyed. Your insistence and GOP Hack Mark Whitaker's insistence that the media needs to ask tough questions rings absolutely hollow and is absurd. Where were the tough questions over the seccret energy task force of V.P Cheney and most importantly where were the questions BEFORE the war in Iraq to the administration about their exit strategy, their plans for victory and their proof that Iraq had WMD. The media asked none of the questions and it led to hundreds of thousands of Iraqi deaths and 5,000 U.S. soldiers dying for weapons that were a fantasy of 43. The media did not ask any tough questions of President Bush, certainly not when it mattered. Warantless wiretapping is another example. Perhaps, the best motive that I can ascribe to the media is that they feel like they let President Bush get away with his crimes and they are going to overcompensate by viciously attacking our young new president to show that they are "tough." This new scrutiny would have been better applied to Bush, someone who actually is a criminal, not our new president, who your colleagues have all but convicted. I watched you on MTP and you sat beside a Chicago Tribune reporter who said "let's stop talking about puppies and expose just how corrupt this new president is." That's outrageous sir.

I guess as long as you have a fancy car and live high off the hog, you will follow the desires of your corporate masters. It's too bad that you care more about your paycheck than the good of the American people. Shame on you but thank GOD the public saw through your ilk's lies in the campaign and they will in the years ahead as well.

Have a nice day.

1. I bet he hits 'delete' after the second time you say 'spew their lies'
I hope you feel better after having written it, but it's way too histrionic for him to take it seriously.

3. Well said. I applaud your email
The MSNBC crew makes me sick. What part of the attorney general saying Obama and his team had nothing to do with this an the request of Fitzgerald that they not release their findings until next week don't they understand. Off to send Chucko an email myself. This attempt to smear Obama is sick.

5. Rec'd~ Thank you for writing this.. how about
sharing the email so others who are watching this tripe can send their's?

There must be a way to make an impression on them that all they're doing is making themselves more irrelevant.

8. Scrutiny is fine
There's just no reason for scrutiny of Obama over the Blago mess other than to ask if Obama's people were involved in any wrongdoing. There's no need to be accusatory about it, like the MSM is.

I strongly agree with you that Bush received too little scrutiny. So did John McCain and all the other Republicans. However, I don't want any office holder to escape scrutiny. The fact that some escaped will not make us better off if the new people escape too. We need a check on our guys and shouldn't let partisanship prevent us from keeping an eye on things.

I'd like the scrutiny to be fair this time though. It shouldn't be like the free pass Bush got or the constant witch hunt Bill Clinton was put through. Fair questions should be asked, but just fair questions.

9. To what purpose?
If you just meant it to be a bit of personal catharsis and had no intention of accomplishing anything beyond letting off some steam for your own benefit... fine, well done. Hope you feel better for having gotten it off your chest.

If however you wanted to try to have some kind of impact or influence that was a horrible e-mail. I see way too many people in this forum do this and it's immensely irritating to watch it happen. As soon as you start throwing around phrases like "GOP corporate hack" and telling them they're being paid off to spew lies I guarantee the delete key was hit and nothing else you wrote was even read. It's like putting up a big sign post saying "Hello! This e-mail will be a long semi-coherent rant and you needn't waste your time reading it".

If you want to actually get anyone to listen, try telling something like you "believe they're misrepresenting the situation" and lay out how. Calmly. It'll make a world of difference in how likely your message is to be given even a second glance.

calling a person a shameless corporate whore is not the best way to get them to listen to you.

13. Keep the emails coming, and call them as well.......
Edited on Tue Dec-16-08 03:36 PM by FrenchieCat
I don't have a problem with them feeling that they "must" hold politicians "accountable", but I do have a problem as to whom they are holding accountable and for what.

It appears that they will question, insinuate, imply, suggest, theorize, imagine, conjure up, speculate, contemplate, argue, debate, and even accuse Barack Obama with glee, yet Bush had to be handled with Kid's gloves.

We are having giant problems now in this country, and many can be linked with the failures of our 4th estate. To concentrate on a non-issue in reference to a man not even yet sworn into office, while ignoring the one in office now who basically bankrupted this country and ruined our reputation throughout the world is pretty ridiculous.

They have no excuse beyond the fact that the are corporate, and care about tax cuts and bottomlines. They are traitors to this country....and I hope and pray that Obama will re-regulate the shit out of them.......cause I'm tired of the double standard, which is all that we are witnessing.

Thank you for writing! Keep it up, and don't let those who don't ever bother to write discourage you. You've done good! :applause:
