Millions of people are unemployed and/or at risk of losing their homes.
The American Auto industry is about to go under throwing even more millions of people out of work. Our financial system is crumbling. We still have troops risking their lives in two foreign countries. Global warming is getting worse. The Bush administration is pushing through many last minute executive orders to cut environmental and other protections.

Yet, the right can only talk about Blago and imagined ties to Obama while planning to resurrect Mark Rich and Elian Gonzalez.

And all the left can talk about is Rick Warren, Caroline Kennedy and who they don't like in Obama's cabinet.

There are serious problems in this country that need to addressed. Isn't everything else just petty silliness?

3. but most of us already agree on the first few items you mentioned
Debating the stuff we disagree about is far more fun on a discussion board.

Then again, I don't think the Rick Warren thing is silly.

23. You can agree to disagree while still being inclusive
and not going ballistic just because Warren is saying a prayer at the inauguration. With all the serious problems we face it does seem rather silly.

5. Do you think that some of those things might be connected?
What role has the religious right played in causing the problems you cite? Is it wise to continue to suck up to the religious right?

16. So then why do you think it is a bad idea for Obama
to reach out to them? One of the reasons they voted for Bush is that they felt Dems turned their back on them and their concerns. So isn't it a good thing for Obama to be more inclusive of them.

24. Have you ever looked at the agenda of the religious right?
When I look at what the religious right is trying to do to this country, then I would hope that the Dems would turn their backs on them and their concerns. Sorry but I don't want to live in a theocratic state where women are in the kitchen, gays are in the closet, and our military is trying to bring about the rapture. I don't have any desire to be more inclusive of an agenda of hate and fear.

27. You're painting everyone on the religious right with the same brush
That as unfair as how the Rushes and O'Reillys of the world try to paint everyone on the left as radical.

And at a time when our country faces such serious problems shouldn't we come together as one people and solve these problems for the good of all.

22. I just found out today I`m at the end of the road...... forclosure starts in Jan.
I feel so lost and unsure of what to expect next. I`m not alone here in MI, but it`s still very scarry. Do I care about the politics of the moment?? I did, but it has taken a back burner for the near future. You worry about what you have to worry about. You do what you can with what you have to survive. Blago, Caroline, warren, etc., they are only a moment in time that will pass and somehow we will survive to go on to another day. Perspective, my friends!

What an awful holiday this is for so many. I cannot imagine losing a home that was mine all mine, with all the hard work and deicisions taht go into owning a home.

Where do people go if they lose their home??

It would be awful for me and M too but we already accept so much of what the bad new Ameruka is about. I got a job one week before the economy tanked; and in a way it was no surprise there.

We have loved our home, we remodeled her with our own hands, but I lost my job and she is not happy with one paycheck to support her. We are trying to purchase a mobile home. Life goes on and so will we, but, I have never been so terrified in my life.
