OK, I'm a bit drunk, but I'm feeling sentimental and remembering how I felt in December 2004.
Hopelessness? Complete loss of faith in the American people? Sure there are plenty of things to feel shitty about, but let's just put it in perspective versus only 4 years ago. We are back. We have begun the healing process. We can sleep at night knowing things are much more likely to get better and not worse. And that is thanks to all of our (your) persevering.
The carrying on by Air America (et al) despite the ridicule from the Hannity / hate mongers of the world. Carrying on by us despite the disgusting campaign against Kerry. Carrying on through the most painful and divisive campaign we've seen. We fought. We held out hope on the darkest days and we came out of it learning that HOPE and ACTION DO still matter. We all should be proud. We fought through the darkest 8 years in US history and literally turned this ship around through sheer force of will.
As a member since before the Clinton impeachment, I want to say: Thank you D.U. Thank you for the hope you've given me on the darkest days and the inspiration and information you've provided me on the brightest days.
We can do anything. We have more to do, but we have overcome so much that I know we can keep going in the right direction an achieve more than we can imagine.
