What's more important than Rick Warren?
Was just outside smoking with one of my gay co-workers and he was pissed off that another bigot was given a national platform. ( And out of curiousity I asked what he felt about Rick Warren- had no clue what I was talking about- )
Then we discussed the fact that we are going to start paying $25 more a month starting the 1st on our health care because we are smokers :) ( another thread )

5. Only $25? Wow.
I'm a smoker, I buy a non-additive brand to reduce the odds that something awful will happen, but as conditions in California are about smoking I'd expect to be paying much more, and have to so some community service and were a big fat "stoopid" hat.

A week ago, on the other hand, I was having a cigarette in a very nice restaurant in Charlottesville, VA, called the C and O.

9. Cold turkey?
Or...what?

It's gotten too damn hard to smoke in the US.

Every time I have to sit at Dulles I notice the smoking rooms get smaller and smaller.

Last week the air handling equipment in the space was turned off, it was unbearable.

And, of course, 75% of the occupants are not Americans.

13. I did the gum for a week.
Then cold turkey. It was horrible. :D But, yeah. I got tired of having to arrange my whole day around trying to have that first cigarette. I think it has been worth it, although the first three months were purgatory.

17. Oh yeah that must be because smoking and being gay are both "choices" !
:sarcasm: As an ex smoker myself, I know one can quit smoking but I doubt I could quit being straight. And Fred isn't being "honored" by a talk show or being legitimized by a President purported not to support hisviwes at a national event.

As for your co-worker not being aware of Warren, GBTL folks are like everyone else, some are "aware" politically and keep up with currnet events, others are not.

I am stunned by folks that contributed to our local campaigns that still don't know the results. But not everyone is that involved.
