700+ billion to Wall Street, and Obama wants to cut funding to an agency that
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 02:21 PM by GarbagemanLB
has contributed immensely to our way of living and our knowledge of the world/universe, an agency that is funded by 17 billion dollars a year, or 2.4 percent of what we gave to those greedy fucks on Wall Street.

Obama better not touch NASA until he thoroughly goes through the military budget. How much does ONE F-22 cost? Something like 300 MILLION dollars?

I really hope this turns out not to be true.

2. How about those starving children and homeless people.
Do they go to the back of the line?

3. Why does it have to be an either or? We are already lagging behind other developed countries
in terms of science and math education. We need the youth in this country to be involved and interested in science, and NASA can play an integral role in that.

17 billion a year. Take a look at the annual budgets of any other national agency/department and the return on investment those agencies provide.

6. Arguments debunked in many places...
NASA is I believe the only federal agency that returns more to the economny than it costs...

It's contributions to the well being of the planet and to the poor and starving are too numerous to put here...

8. I agree...but lets wait...
These reports are heresay which is usually wrong. Obama promised strong support of NASA during the campaign. Lets wait for him to take office and see what he proposes before getting bent out of shape

14. Normally I would agree, but putting food on plates takes precedent...
And that is what this is coming down to. The nation is starving, and putting a man on Mars isn't going to make anyone less hungry.

15. Some parts of NASA *should* be cut.
That's simply a matter of statistics.

Add to the issue that one huge freaking portion of the budget is being put into a director's pet project, and you have an issue that screams for more accountability and oversight.

Some parts of the DoD should be cut.

Add to the issue that one huge freaking portion of the budget is being put into a director's pet project, and you have an issue that screams for more accountability and oversight.

Some parts of HHS should be cut.

I think you can see where I'm going, here. No portion of our government should be "above" scrutiny, above funding cuts, if it turns out that they're wasting money in some areas. Specific to NASA, there's a solid fuel project that needs some scrutiny, to see if its been carefully, and properly, handled, as it's a reasonably questionable line of pursuit for manned spaceflight.

16. He can start by cutting the drug war funding significantly
Edited on Mon Dec-22-08 08:45 PM by cbc5g
And significantly weakening that abhorrent position that his VP created, the drug czar.

No need to cut nasa funding
