Poll question: Does this scare you?
I've been amused by some Republicans comparing it to Maoist China.

1. What scares me is Obama letting people down and allowing people to become cynical of government

again (especially the youth).

I don't think that will happen, but that is what I worry about.

3. No. Some Republicans don't "do" irony real well.
One of the things that makes me hopeful about Obama is the art his campaign inspired. I hope the momentum continues.

5. Only one things scares me and that is the possibility that the change is only superficial.
Yeah, I hope I'm being paranoid. Hell, actually having a president who can spell is change enough...

6. They did this for George Washington, too.
People have always tried to personalize their relationship with the national leader.

When they start making megastatues of Obama or putting his face on dollar bills, I'll worry.

9. They're scared of a democratic president being "popular".
It totally breaks their message that our party is a bunch of uncharismatic wimps/wonks/etc.

Well, that, and they've always had irrational fears of socialism and communism.

13. Outraged Republicans are simply working out their envy.
Their candidate did not look good on a poster, and it still galls them.
