Obama's cabinet diversity

Diversity?
- 5 women (the most ever in any administration)
- 4 African-Americans (not counting himself, the most ever in any administration)
- 3 Hispanics (tied for the most ever in any administration)
- 2 Asians (the most ever in any administration)

Brains?
- 8 Ivy Leaguers

Regional Balance?
- 2 southerners
- 3 westerners
- 4 New Yorkers
- 5 midwesterners

I have no patience at ALL for any groups complaining about the diversity of this cabinet. There has never been a more diverse government in the history of the world, let alone the United States.

2. yawn. Ivy League elitism does not equal intelligence.
I could give a fuck if the Cabinet is a rainbow unicorn coalition. They're still all, with very few exceptions, still ideologically DLC/Third Way/post-partisan/Repub Lite/term of your choice that essentially spells out the same shit.

3. Complaints about their ideologies are valid.....

... complaints about their diversity (with respect to disaffected groups) are not.

4. I am of two minds on that particular issue....
on one hand, we are NOT past identity politics and I think giving minority groups visible appointments does help foster a sense of precedent for other minorities seeking high power seats. The dark side of this is that you can stick a few "tokens" in and then that becomes some sort of validation to the notion that racism, sexism, anti-gay sentiments are somehow eradicated.

On the other hand, in terms of real progress in policy-making, it makes absolutely no difference what minority one comes from. The only thing that matters is her/his perspective and experience in enacting good policy.

11. yawn. what a crock.
The cabinet is largely comprised of smart capable people such as Bill Richardson and Janet Napolitano.

Anyone who thinks this cabinet isn't a big change from the last 8 years, is simply blind.

6. and zero
count them zero gays. A group which voted 7 to 2.3 in his favor got 0 slots and Republicans who opposed him 9 to 1 got 2 slots.

13. I take people at their words
and presume married people are straight. And I did see some chunky folks at some of these cabinet announcements spoken as a chunky dude myself.

12. You don't know that
I'm glad the president isn't play the quota game. By the way, every "where are the fat people, where are the midgets" retort to your complaint always goes unanswered by you. That it is a valid position that makes yours look ridiculous is the reason.

14. Well when Obama names an anti midget or anti fat person
to give his innovacation call me. When suicide among the fat or the midgets reaches 4 times the national average, call me. When we see hate crimes rise against the fat or the midgets call me. We we see fat people or midgets banned from adopting call me.
